Who has a classic chevy truck??

Raise your hand if you have an older classic Chevy truck..or better yet show us a pic. I've got a severe itch for a pre-58 short wheelbase stepside. They seem to be hard to find and man do they attract rust. If I had my druthers I'd have a '55 big window. But I like the 53 and earlier trucks too.
So show'em if you got'em... other brands welcomed also...

I had a -53 for a few years. Man did that truck fly
untill it blew the headgasket.

Sold it to a Hotrodder . No digital photos though.

Never had any 50's models.. My brother had a nice 57 at one
time though. I've had a 66 and a 72. Both short bed step sides
with 6 cyl engines. But those are long gone.
I still have two semi old Fords though.
I've got a 68 F-250, and also a 74 F-100. Both of those have six
bangers too. A 300 in the 68, and a 240 in the 74.
As far as the Chevy's, I liked the little back window in the 66.
But overall, I think the 72 was my favorite. It had good lines,
and I had Blazer buckets and console in that thing. It was a good
"street" truck.
Where as the Fords I have tend to be work trucks or campers.

Not anymore, but I used to have a '69 Chevy, SWB, 4WD, with a 250 6-cylinder and granny low 4-speed, that I completely restored.

A few years later it broke down, and money was tight. I parked it to fix it when I could get the money saved up. A guy saw it in the yard, and stopped and offered to buy it. I needed the money, so I sold it. I nearly cried watching it leave the place. I still miss it, but it was the right thing to do at the time.

My Dad had a 66' short bed that was my Granddads. 3 on the tree with a 6 cyl. It was like driving a block of metal around compared to today's plastic cars. He was going to give it to me when I turned 16 but I was stupid and didn't want it. One of my Cousin's bought it from him when I was 17.

On the upside I ended up with a very clean 79' Trans-Am at 16.

That was a long time ago but I wish I had that truck today.......and the Trans-Am

Oddly when I was a kid in the 40s and 50s I dont think there were near as many trucks proportionaly to cars as there is now. Dad had a 41 chev PU, and a uncle drove a 37 ford PU into 70s. On a job I had in the early 60s the company gave me 57 to 64 chev trucks. I belive I had the first model 64 V6 4WD GMC for awhile. The first PU I bought myself was a ford 100 8ft stepside with a 351 CI and 3 on the tree. It was geared where it wouldnt pull a hen off a nest on low end but at freeway speeds it would fly when I stepped on it. After that I bought a old 49 ford panel truck that looked like a old bread delivery truck with a flathead V8, for $125s! I traded it off for a stagg built rifle, a 30-30 over a 20 guage. I think some hippys had it before me as it had a sink in back, and a little window cut into the side. Last time I seen it, it was restored and in a custom truck magazine.

I've had a couple over the years. The white 1969 C/10 had 350 auto a/c and low one owner miles. The 1972 El Camino is one I wish I had back.
