Who has cast 7mm rifle bullets. I have a 7x57 rolling block rifle and I want to reload cast bullets. .284 is the measurement of the bullet. I was looking for @ 170gr. if possible.

I always use 175 grain RN for those old 7 Mauser single shots. they were made for jacketed bullets, not lead.

In the late 80's, I came into a Belgian Champlain in 7 Mauser, about a month later I found some "Red Lable" (pre–WW I) Remington Ammo for Rolling Blocks. 175 grain Copper-Nickel jacketed ammo (about 400 rounds) when I reloaded for that gun, I used Hornady's Jacketed Soft points and IMR 3031 powder.

It is amazing what those FMJ's did to the head of a ground hog! The sights were so crude I had to be within 50 yards for a target that small.

I recall RCBS making a 162 gr 7mm mold but few others. They make only a 2 cavity mold and most commercial casters use a 4 or 6 cavity adapted to machine casting. Few custom mold makers want to drop below 30 caliber. Adding to the long throat some of those old Mausers had it is tough to find anything that fits it.

I used to cast all my bullets back when I shot IHMSA silhouettes. I have a 168 gr 2 cavity RCBS mold. wheelweight lead came out a bit undersized. Linotype would be the material to use if you can find it.
