Who here ankle carries?

In the early 80's I carried a Walther PPK in ankle holster as a U/C and back up gun. I did that for about six years until I was on a covert surveillance of a suspect when he arrived at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. The suspect was from out of town, and we were to follow him all weekend to see who he was meeting with.

As he arrived via taxi, one of the other agents who also carried a PPK in an ankle holster, got out of a vehicle to follow the suspect in. As the agent entered the marble floored lobby of the hotel, his holster became unsnapped, and his PPK fell out of his holster. With his next step, the agent kicked the PPK, and it was sent across the marble floor like an NHL slap shot. Now considering the lobby was full of patrons trying to check in, the sight of the high-speed PPK sliding across the lobby caused quite a ruckus. People screamed, security was called, and the agent finally got to his runaway PPK. Security arrived and the agent had to identify himself. Of course he was standing less than ten feet from the suspect when he explained he was a federal agent. The suspect calmly got out of the check in line, went outside and caught a cab to the airport. Needless to say the surveillance was blown.

I went home that day, and never again carried an ankle holster.

As an officer I tired ankle carry for my PPKS BUG, but never could tolerate it. Perhaps it was the crappy uncle mikes holster.

When I wear long dress type pants, that do not have proper gun carrying pockets, I use an ankle holster.
In four decades that has happened about a dozen times.
Always wear cargo shorts as it’s never really really cold in South Florida. :D

My son bought a plush Galco, fits my LCP/Bobcat, and gave it to me years ago...... but prior to that I made mine from old wetsuits to carry my HS 22mag Derringer.
I’ll make a new one as I prefer to carry the Sig238HD with with my newly designed LongRanger grips in case of a DressUp event..... or the old Bianchi shoulder rig and carry an adult caliber 45!!! ;)

Being from SoFl, the perfect most of the year outfit was the cargo shorts and a Guyabera shirt for the top. That longish, square cut tail of the Guyabera is perfect to cover stuff up, plus, they are common as dirt in SoFl.
