Question...
I have a 686 no dash that shipped from the factory in December 1984. Does that mean it was made under the Bangor Punta regime? If not then who? I see different posts on dates when S&W was bought and sold. Thanks

I don't let Bangor-Punta bother me. They were just a holding company and I'm pretty sure they did not fire and rehire all the employees at S&W during their tenure. For goodness sake....as far as I know, Saf-T-Hammer still owns S&W, but heaven-forbid I open-up another lock debate.

I guess to me it depends on the gun I am buying and not the company that owned the name at the time. The Bangor-Punta era was just that....an era. If you find a good gun you like, purchase it on the basis of the gun in your hand.

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't agree more for I already own the gun and am very happy with it. I was just curious who was at the helm when my gun was made. I don't get caught up in all the good gun bad gun nonsense. Just curious and nothing else
