Who makes S&W magazines?

M&P mags are made by Mec-Gar, can't say about the others. Mec-Gars are outstanding mags & are the only non-factory mags I'll buy (excepting 1911s).

I've been told that all 3rd Generation magazines were made in-house by S&W.

They must be real proud of their work, cuz' they sure price them like they are!

SW99 mags are Mec-Gar. Many are in-house. The ACT-MAGs that came with my 1911SC are now my favorite 1911 mags.

29wheel, the original silver billboard models are the ones that came with a set of Wilson 47d's, S&W discontinued when they realized that they had a winner with the 1911. I'm sure cost had a lot to do with but then again the originals had a very impressive set of parts compared to todays models!

There have been a number of makers of S&W mags... S&W has made their own... Mec-Gar has made them, ACT has as well...

From what I understand there are several makers and who makes them depends on who offers the best deal for the order to be manufactured.

FWIW

Thank you sir.

I had a bad (I damaged it)1911 mag, customer service had me send it back, they promptly sent a new one. The ACT Mags are very good quality and as stated earlier, made in Italy. The Mags are also branded and sold as NOVAK mags.

I bought several, but not enough, when CDNN had them for around $7 each with an ARMSCORE logo.

The only failure I've had with my 1911SC was a nosedive with a Wilson 47D.

The mags that came with my sigma are not the quality of the Mec Gar's that came with my Keltec. But they do work.

ACT-MAG magazines are good stuff. My Dad's 1911PC came with a couple as did my Rock Islands (talk about two ends of the spectrum). I bought some that are stamped for Nighthawk Custom, too.

MecGar makes some (like Third Gen pistol mags) and ACT-Mag makes the 1911 for S&W and Novaks. I am not sure who makes the others. Original 1911s came with Wilson mags.

My SW99 LE hicaps are mecgar mags, I had read somewhere that mecgar makes alot of factory mags for certain companies, until I bought my SW99 I didn't know they did this for S&W... great mags tho, I had some for my taurus pt92 and they functioned flawlessly, mecgar is good stuff.

Whoever makes them they must be behind in production, just like ammo makers. I have been waiting for over a month for extra mags for my CS45. I realize that a CS45 is not the most popular model S&W has ever made. I'm just impatient.

My 1911PC came with ACT-MAG magazines, in fact one was a used mag without the S&W logo, evidently they used the pre-logo ones in the shop. Customer service sent me a new one so I have 3 now.
ACT-MAG makes OEM mags for SIG as well; I have a couple of P220 mags of their manufacture.
Very high quality mags in my opinion.
