Why do I do these things?

I went gun shop crawling and ran in to a NIB Glock 17 Gen 4 with nite sites and 3 17 rd mags, case and all for a reasonable price, and despite my sig. line I bought it. I’m telling you it’s a sickness. I’ve owned a few Glocks in the past and sold them off because I just couldn’t warm up to them. No personality, crappy trigger pulls, but dead nuts reliable. Kind of the “zombies” of the firesarms world. I’ve tried changing out to lighter connectors but didn’t see much improvement. I know they’ll never be as nice a a revolver trigger but any ideas to improve the trigger to where I can enjoy some range time with it and come to a point that I like it? Don’t think I’ll ever love it.

I always tell people that come into our shop that a Glock is the best gun you'll never love.

I myself keep one ( a G35) just because I think every collector should have at least one. To my point, I have never sat in front of the TV at night lovingly polishing it.

Some people love Glocks and can't get enough of them. Some people detest them and won't go within 30 feet of them. Some people see them as tools and nothing else.

I think I fall into the latter camp. I've shot Glocks, they are accurate for their intended purpose and usually quite reliable. Parts, magazines, holsters and other accessories for them abound, but they are not pretty collector items, just tools.

I've had three Glocks, and got rid of all of them. Earlier this year I bought a S&W MP9, and really like it. It has the manual safety and a magazine disconnect safety. About 20 years ago I got in a scuffle with a robbery suspect, and he got my S&W 5906 out of my holster and tried to shoot me, but by the grace of God he did not know how to release the safety. My PD did not switch to Glocks until after I retired. I never thought that I would lose control of my handgun, but it happed. and as I have said, by God's grace I survived.

So what do YOU call a reasonable price for a used Glock 17? I would grab one of these or a longslide because I believe that barrel length is important for 9mm.

As for it being a sickness, I agree. My safe contains all kinds of weird things because I could not resist a bargain.

I have several glocks but no I don't love them. I find it more pleasing to shoot a revolver or even a 1911. but as a tool a Glock is hard to beat. I do have a Glock model 40 that's actually kinda fun to shoot.

Most people who say they want a good trigger on a semi auto defensive handgun are saying they want a trigger pull similar to a high end 1911 or a cocked S&W revolver. It's almost impossible to make that happen on striker fire guns but you can get close if you spend 2 or 3 hundred bucks with the right gunsmith. I have given up on most striker fired guns because I prefer the trigger of my 1911, Browning HP, and CZ 75.

My guns are all tools, I carry and shoot them all. I don't own a single Glock, never have, never will. I don't feel I'm missing a thing, thank you.

Everyone should own one Glock.

I've had enough problems with Glocks that I don't have any illusions about their "perfection", but I do keep one around to remind myself how much I don't like them.

$425 ANIB with the nites. I can’t find a mark on it. Barrel shroud, breech face and the exterior of the barrel at the muzzle are all pristine.
Just my luck today I found a S&W 3913TSW with four mags for $595, but I have my gun money tied up in the Glock.

But maybe this time it'll work!

I respect the Glock, but still haven't brought myself to buy one...

I have a Glock. 30s that I edc.I had AWA Gunsmithing c/o the sights & do a trigger job on it!! Dead nuts accurate....I trust it & love it!However I also love my KIMBER K6S 3"!

Glock 17 is a nice gun, but not intended for some of the purposes that people try to fit it into.

I have a Gen 4 Glock 23 and Glock 42 (the wife's actually). They both serve their intended purposes well, and I have no complaints.

I have seen Glocks at prices worth buying for the last 15 years. All I have to do is pick one up and hold it to remember why I do not own one. I never denigrate anyone for owning one or many of them. If they work for you either as just a tool or as a example of a revolutionary firearm, more power to you.

I parted with the only two Glocks I've owned, a 19 and a 22, both 2nd generation, when I decided to return to revolvers only.

I liked both especially the 19, which I sometimes wish I had kept, but I don't regret sticking with my first love.

Glocks are good, reliable defensive guns. I don't even find them as ugly as most here do. But I'm a revolver guy from way back, and I guess I'll be one till I check out.

I carry a Glock daily. I have replaced the trigger assembly on my 43 and it’s a huge improvement.

This one is not near as expensive as others. Glock Triggers - Kineti-Tech

I recommend you go with the complete trigger and have them polish the trigger bar.

Springfield 45-70 Trapdoor

I carried a Army issued 45 cal 1911 for real for many years. And never had even the slightest problem with any of them. And mine always worked no matter how bad the conditions were. To say I was prodigious toward the Old 1911`s was a true out and out understatement. But my Son gave me a Springfield XD in 45 ACP, a Glock 17L in 9MM, and a Glock 24 in 40 S&W. And it took me a long time to really warm up to them. But those three guns are now my House Guns for things that go unexpectedly bump in the middle of the night and my Old Rottweiler start to bark and growl.
I even find myself carrying one of them for walks in the woods. And I have to admit those three guns are getting better looking to me all the time. And I shoot them well now also.

I have owned 3 Glocks, a G17, a G43 and the G42. The 17 and 43 are gone, replaced by a Walther PPQ M2 and a S&W 9mm Shield 2.0 with green laser sight.

The 42 is a keeper, fits my hand like a glove, has a remarkably nice trigger, smooth shooter and accurate. Very concealable as a pocket holster as well.

The only centerfire selfloaders I trust and carry are bone STOCK Glocks. I'm not saying they are "perfection" but I've never found them not to function perfectly when needed. My favorite is the model 30. 10 rounds of 45acp in a very compact and controllable package that needs very little maintenance and has been as dependable as the sunrise. There is a very very good reason so many millions of law enforcement/military personnel trust them with their lives. Good enough for me.
