It's a privately owned RadioShack franchise. RadioShack corp is trying to make him stop the offer.

that specific store aside ... I only do the rat shack for wire.
everything else I get from Digikey Parts express or one of the tube stores when I wanna get some serious solder time in

Ive dealt with some of those too:D
I do, however like Parts Express for speakers. It seems no one shop can get you completely through a project properly, but at least the right combination of shops can yield some sweet creations:D
you owe it to yourself to check out part number LME49811 and LME49810 ... its a volt head kinda thing ;)

Radio Shack sure ain't what it used to be a long time ago.

I remember as a kid going with my Dad to a Lafayette Radio (Electronics) in New York. It was the place for all things electronic back in the day of tubes, radios, antennas, kit projects etc.

yeah .. the good old days when if you wanted to take a crack at something .. someone somewhere was eager to show you the ropes.

Now, if ya wanna try your hand at electronics, you really have to want it enough to scour the earth and a few other bodies in orbit to find half of the stuff listed in the textbook you went on an internet safari for last month.

then again ... 300 honest watts might sound a good bit sweeter to me for it:D

I kick myself for not keeping all my Dads tube radios and all related stuff. Of course as a young punk with new solid state stuff who needed that old junk.

Heck I remember being able to go to the 5 and dime store and they had tube testers. Find the right pin set up, plug it in and go or no go. Then in the bottom, was shelves of tubes to pick from.

He had drawers full of tubes and wires.
