guy at work wins a 9mm 1.0 shield with 2 extra 10rd. mags. shoots less than first box, wife hates it....(sells to me $350)..I know ,not a good deal, but I helped him out....I'm a wheel-gun guy, so its like whatever!....Take this thing out, and I love it!..Whats up with that? shoots good, feels good, fun to shoot.....Thinking that maybe a classic S&W 9mm auto would be fun?!!....Oh No

I have a 1.0 also. It is fun to shoot even if it is a bit "snappy". i also have a 4.25" MP9 2.0. The larger frame reduces the recoil and it is even more fun to shoot. Plus the larger mag capacity really allows you to get into a rhythm.
And yes, you way over-paid (sorry)

The Lady choose the 1.0 as her personal defense weapon and loves it. It has a APEX Duty Trigger kit which along with the less aggressive grip texture is very comfortable to shoot.

As I am a believer in "2 is 1 and 1 is none" I brought myself one earlier this year. I have not got around to installing the APEX Trigger kit in it yet.

We waaaay overpaid for The Lady's 1.0 but so what? She loves it and shoots it very accurately. How much we pay for a gun only matters if we decide to sell it which she has told me will not happen!

Spend another $100.00 for the APEX Trigger kit. You will love the improvement.

I have both a 1.0 and a Glock 43. The thing I love about the S&W Shield is that shoots like a much bigger gun. I added the TLR-6 to mine...

I hear ya there is just something that's right about the Shield. I did add a little stimppling to the 1.0 then lightly sanded down any hot spots, added some tritium sights (AmeriGlo 2 dot) and a stainless steel guide rod that made the slide release much easer/smoother. Overall very happy with the little CC gun.

I like my shield quite a bit! It's a very capable little gun that shoots pretty darn soft for as small as it is... I have a pierce pinky extension and mostly carry it with that in the gun... It's a great size for summer time carry in shorts and t-shirt weather or a great deep concealment gun anytime of the year... I usually prefer to go with my 4.25" M&P 1.0 or 4" compact M&P 2.0... Whenever I pack the shield I take a couple of 8 rond mags on my belt in case I run into ISIS ya know lol...

Shield 1.0 9mm I added a Strike Industries +2 extension to the 7rd mag and have a Hogue grip on the gun...nice feel. All my 8rd mags (5) are Hyve +2 extensions that I carry on my belt and in my pocket...60 rds total...all Critical Defense...all very concealable.

Context is everything - if you posted that you bought a Shield 9 with two 10 round magazines (those extensions are pricey) for that price 4 years ago (during the Great Gun Shortage of 2009 - '16) everyone would be accusing you of theft. And good for you for helping out a friend. :) Enjoy!

What he said. No one should care what you paid if you don't. If you like the gun that's all that's really relevant. Good on you for helping a friend.

I'll add that James Yeager has multiple thousands of rounds through his and swears by it...

That's odd, I had the opposite experience between the M&P 9 full size and the Shield. I started out with the full size but, switched to the Shield because for me, in addition to the fact it was easier to carry concealed, it seemed to have less felt recoil and muzzle flip than it's full size counterpart.

As for the OP, I'm not aware of any 10 rd. mags for the Shield and yes, you over paid. Ever since the 2.0 came out, the 1.0 value has dropped considerably.
Even though my 1.0 has the APEX duty/carry trigger kit in it, it's still not worth much as a trade in.
I tried trading it in for a 2.0 compact awhile back but, they were only willing to offer me $150 for it.

I have a 1.0 shield 9mm, and I love it too. I have some of all though... Love wheel guns, love bolt action, love semi auto, love many kinds of pistols...

Love my Shield 1.0, 2k plus rounds through it and still going strong.

Shield 1.0 here. Several thousand rounds down the pipe and not a single mishap. Never considered getting a shield 2.0 ( although I do have a m&p 2.0 compact @4" with apex flat trigger kit). My Shield is my edc. Very easy and comfortable to carry whether it be aiwb or at 3:30 iwb.

Trade-in value is irrelevant since you would have a hard time actually buying a firearm at that price. Gun shops have to make a profit, and since a used firearm is generally worth less than new and the gun shop has to add their profit margin on top, that normally puts the trade-in price at about 50% of its value depending on the original price. Obviously the lower original selling price of Shield will make it worth a lower percentage of its original price than something like a used Wilson Combat 1911.

In any case, a used Shield 1.0 averages about $350-$400 here in CA since the replacement model is off-roster. Perspective and location are everything when it comes to value.
