I wasn't really looking for another short 27, but doggone it, I'm weak. There, I said it.:(

Smith & Wesson Model 27 3 1/2" Almost- Not quite.. : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

I already have three, but two are in 98% original condition nickel and blue, and my third came back from a factory refinish so utterly perfect, I just can't bring myself to shoot it. So you see, I need a shooter. Really I do.
In my part of the country, these things are as rare as hen's teeth, so I expect I could recover my costs or even turn a profit if push came to shove. Anyway, I plan to shoot the heck out of it. If that sounds like denial, it is. Can anybody suggest a 12 step program?

The one night I was actually watching the ballgame because Felix was on the mound, and I miss this. Well, phooey.

That's exactly what I was looking for - a shooter, not a safe queen. Great pick-up.

The only twelve step program I know for S&W is to have at least twelve of them...

I think you did just fine. I also have a couple of very nice 3 1/2" 27's, and one shooter. I don't know what I'd do without the shooter. It's a joy to shoot. I'm sure your "new" 27 will be just what the doctor ordered.

Congratulations on the purchase and if you ever find the cure for the disease please let the rest of us know because as of now the only cure I have found is feeding the beast with additional purchases.

"A fool and his money are soon parted." That was the voice of personal experience talking.

I think you stole that one. Good snag, have fun.

If I'da seen it first, I woulda' punched the "buy it now" button too! :)

Take some more pics when you get it AND tell us how she shoots.

Oh, and change your screen name to "Lucky Dog".:D

Man that's a nice gun.

I really liked the sellers ad. He did a wonderful job of allowing you to know EXACTLY what you were buying as much as you can without actually holding it.

Talk about an honest Seller! Clear pics and good description of flaws.

Very nice snag!! A Bargain 27-2 for my neck of the woods as well.

Enjoy it.

That one was definately not ridden hard and put away wet. Heck, you could have that cylinder refinished and still have an excellent looking, proud to show shooter.

The Smith & Wesson 12 Step Program, as experienced by OK Hog Shooter

1) Inherit two Smith revolvers with family history

2) Buy a 3rd gen for farm carry due to ambi decocker/safety and being all stainless

3) Get a CCW permit

4) Join the Smith & Wesson forum to "research" a lighter 3rd gen for CC (this was really my first mistake, er, I mean opportunity, but oh how enjoyable the forum has been!)

5) Acquire the aforementioned "lighter" 3rd gen for CC

6) Participate in the forum on a daily basis

7) Decide you need a revolver for a BUG up to the two 3rd gens

8) Fall in lust with stainless 3" barreled revolvers

9) Expand that to include any blued and/or stainless revolvers with any length barrel between 1 7/8 to 6", including M27s, as long as it's a Smith!

10) Get influenced by thread discussions on other caliber 3rd gens

11) Start acquisitions of additional 3rd gens

12) Start selling children to facilitate further investments in steel commodities

Hey, I never said my 12 step program was intended to cure the problem! It's more of my personal history as I went over the edge and onto the slippery slope. Oh man what a ride!

problem?

What problem?
Asking this bunch about a 12-step is like calling up Dean Martin and telling him you really need a drink.

Anymore $500 seems to be the starting price for any N-frame Smith. A 3.5" M27 for a little over that is an excellent buy from all I have seen. Congratulations!

...in this case it it is far from GunBroke...I would call it GunInvestor... If you just turned around and put it back out on a one week auction without a BuyNow you would make 25-50% profit on your investment...

I have picked up several great deals on GB from people who put out guns like this which are no longer made on a BuyNow way under what they would have gotten if they just did a standard 5 day auction...or even one day...what were they thinking...

Great find!!!

The thread title reminds me of some dialogue in an Amos and Andy show. Andy asked the Kingfish about the value of some worthless stock the Kingfish had sold him. Kingfish's reply, "Let's put it this way Andy. I is the brokor and you is the brokee."
