Why is Fiocchi so bad?

About 15 years ago I bought a case of Fiocchi 12GA White Rhino shells for a sporting clays outing. I had a lot of problems with them jamming up my 870 for the second shot. I recall still beating my coworkers but I would have had more of a lead were it not for the ammo.

The last time I used Fiocchi was a couple hundred rounds of .223 in a day, all those went off without a problem and the brass appears to be good for reloading. That's all I can add to this discussion.

I don't use much Fiocchi ammo but I had an amusing experience with it in my Beretta 950 Jetfire 25 ACP semiauto. The Fiocchi ammo could not cycle the slide...too wimpy. Winchester white box ran fine and so do my handloads. Seemed odd that Italian ammo wouldn't cycle Italian gun.

Fiocchi made a strong attempt to get market share in the mid-90s and their handgun ammo often showed up on prize tables. I don't recall how the stuff performed but I never followed up with buying more.

The OP's problems may well be a bad Lot from the factory.

As many others have said, I have shot many thousands of Fiocchi Ammo, 9mm, .45acp and .45 Colt, .38 spl, 12ga, etc and have never had a problem related to the ammo.

Which ammo runs the best in your gun?

Are you shooting .40 FMJTC? A while back I was looking to stock up on some of their .40, but wanted to check up on it before I committed $.
I ran across a thread in another M&P forum with a guy having feeding problems. The issue discussed was possibly the way the truncated cone bullet sat in the casing. For whatever reason there could be a little lip where the bullet and casing meet and cause it to hang a bit.
Don't know if there's anything to that, but I've stayed away just to be safe.

I seek out their 158 gr FMJ for my 686. have shot well over 1k rounds and never a problem. I know this doesn't speak to the OP's problems with his shield and I'm not a SA guy. just saying that for my money, it's good ammo.

The only thing I've noticed a about Fiocchi Ammo is that it does seem a bit hotter than most other brands. I have not shot it through a Chronograph, just seems that way judging recoil. I've shot their 38 Special, .357 Magnum, 9mm, 38 Super and some of their 12 Gauge Shot Shells. Other than the enhanced recoil, I've not experienced any failures or oddities.

Interesting. I shot thousands of rounds of it in .357 Mag and it always seemed sufficiently hot in addition to being quite clean.

I have a bunch of it in 38 special and 357 mag. Always goes bang and has great accuracy.

I almost exclusively just shoot Fiocchi since I find it to be some of the best cleanest shooting ammo period. I mostly shoot 45ACP and 38 357 mag
. Have shot a ton of 9 mm no issues either. Never had an issue period.

I've put lots of fiocchi through mine and never had a problem.
Know a couple of special ops guys who use it too.

I've shot a few hundred of their 124gr JHP's out of a Shield, BHP and CZ75B. Zero problems with their ammo.

Found a good deal on case-lots of .380 ACP and 9mm about two years ago. As I recall, not a single problem in my LCP, BG380, P-239, P-226, or my PX4 Compact. The .380s did seem a bit lack-luster in accuracy, but no functionality issues what so ever.

Fiocci a no-no for Kahr

My Kahr P380 simply will not shoot Fiocci ammo. I gave up trying to force them through this gun and gave the remaining rounds to my brother-in-law to do as he feels with them.

I've used Fiocchi ammo in four 32 ACP pistols with no problems. In my H&K P7 Fiocchi 9mm Par ammo produced the cleanest gas system I ever had when using factory ammo.

Cartridge cases from both calibers reload with good case lives.

Guns can be finicky, why we always test ammo before committing to it. My 1911 & xd45 run fine on 200gr XTP from Fiocchi.
