Geez they've gone up about $10 per thousand since our new president got elected.

They went up.

Up $5.00 per 1,000 since my last order in May of this year.
Up $10.00 per 1,000 since my order in Jan of this year.

With the HAZMAT fee added the cost is $35.40 per 1,000. At the start of the drought my local pusher ran out of Winchester and Federal (@42.00) and re-stocked with Wolf at $35.00 per 1,000. He now has Remington at $45., Federal and CCI at $52. and has been unable to get Wolf.

For the record, I have used Wolf LP, regular and magnum, in my .45 ACP with no problems. Some time ago I compared loads with Winchester LP to those with Wolf LP Mag and found the difference in velocity and performance to be negligible.

I hope that helps,

Frank

It is not an automatic $34.50 per 1,000. It is dependent upon how many you order. If you order 20,000 primers, it is a bit over a dollar per thousand, still less than 30 bucks for small pistol. I can't touch that around here. I can't find any around here for that matter. I dropped by a Conroe, TX gun shop this week and they had a few boxes for $45 per thousand. Not a good deal.

I bought 5,000 small pistol last time they had them and I find them to work just fine.
So if yo tant got nones then buys some. Nice folks to deal with also.:)

Originally the Wolf primers were $17.95/1000 when the CCI and Winchester primers were $22.95/k. When the other went to $24.95/k Wolf primers were $19.95/k. Now the vendors are charging $29/k for Wolf primers while the Winchester primers are actually cheaper @ $27.50/k. What a rip-off since during this whole "shortage" think the prices of Wolf primers haven't gone up a cent over in Russia, the American vendors are charging more here because they can. The dealers are making HUGE profits on Wolf primers considering they cost no more now than they did when they were charging $17.95/k.

Bought a few thousands of Wolff large rifle primers last time. This time I bought a few thousands of Wolff large pistol mag primers. Found I had to increase amount of powder with Wolff large rifle primers to equal velocities I was getting with Remington large rifle primers, so got mag pistol primers this time. If anything, group size was maybe a bit smaller with Wolff large rifle primers.

Basic price on Wolff LPMP was less than I paid for CCI 350s last fall.

I did leave out a key part. the order I placed was for 5,000 primers. The HAZMAT fee was $22.50 and shipping was $8.19 or a total of $30.69. I divided the fees by 5 and got $6.14 which I added to the base price of $29.00 per 1,000 and got a cost of $35.14. I was paying $35/1,000 for Winchester 18 months ago and the Wolf work every bit as well for me at the same cost. Current stock at my dealer is going for $52/1,000 and I really believe he is not profiting from the shortage. The only evidence I have of this is the fact that he still has a few thousand Wolf LP Magnum at $35, the same price they were at the start of this. I think the profits are being made by the distributors who actually control what he gets.

I hope that clarifies.

10-4, it does make sense with those numbers. I can tell you, however, that Wolf primers, LPM or not, would not be sitting on the shelf around here for $35. For the last 6 months, there were NO primers in my twin city town(s) of 150,000 population. When one place did get in some Winchesters, they were almost 5 bucks per hundred and you were limited to 300.

Accepting the fact that Wolf primers were much cheaper a year ago than now, if they work just as well as others and they are instantly disposable (not re-loadable like brass), it doesn't bother me that someone is profiting more now than before. Any number of factors could also be at work, increased tariffs, lower US dollar trade value, etc.
At least they are available.

I do not understand why some folks or many for that manner, keep on talking about what prices used to be?? Whether it be primers, ammo, guns etc. Everything is more expensive and will be I have yet to see anything go down. It is what it is.

Well I remember when gas was .35 cents a gal and we drove around all weekend for a buck or two and that was high test or ethyl:D

I was completely surprised last week when I called the local Bass Pro and they said they had CCI 500 primers. I had them hold a brick for me. When I got there I asked how many they had left and he said just one more brick. I left it so someone else could have a great day. They said that they had Remington primers also but I didn't ask how many. I was also surprised that they only wanted $29.90 for the brick. They had more powder on the shelves than I've seen in a really long time, several different kinds of IMR, 2400, Titegroup, Blue Dot and Red Dot.

You're lucky. Our Bass Pro will only sell primers by the sleeve of 100 and the last time they had them it was $4-5 a sleeve!

If I remember correctly, I paid $87 per 5000 the day after the election for Large Rifle and Large Pistol. I think it was $83 for Small Rifle. I would have to check the invoice, but it won't be more than a dollar or two difference if I am wrong on the price.

At times like this I think of Al Pacino's line in the movie Dog Day Afternoon, "Kiss me! I like to be kissed when I'm being f.....!"

Good to here about the wolf primers, I have never used them but will when I need primers again, even if their are plenty of win, rem cci on the shelves again, it's plain Price gouging

Kiss Me!

Okay, I checked my invoice for the Wolf primers I ordered from Widener's the day after the election. Large Pistol and Large Rifle primers - 89.00 per 5000. Small Rifle primers - 87.00 per 5000.

Since that time, the dollar has not dropped that much against the Ruble. The only thing I can think of is Al Pacino's line in Dog Day Afternoon. "Kiss me!"

I have been holding off waiting for prices to drop. But I am nearly out of stock myself (like most dealers) so I did buy 5,000 various primers at $173 shipped. Too much but best I have seen in last 6 months and like I said, I am running out.

Now that I have broke down and bought some, expect supplies to overload and prices to plummet.

I doubt that we'll see prices go down. They charge what the market will bear and we're buying at this price.
