Took a new MP out to the range yesterday. Accuracy at 25 yards was ok. I need to get used to the trigger.

But, I took only two mags. One came with the pistol, and another I bought on-line. One would not drop free at the range. It was cold at the range. When I got the gun back at the home both mags drop free. I suppose this is because of the guns mag well shrinking in the cold?

Thanks.

Doubtful. The mags would shrink if they were cold. The mag well should also increase in size because the side would get microscopically thinner from the cold when they shrink. I doubt the total amount of change would be enough to make a difference.

My guess is some sort of lube on one mag and not the other. Strip them down and clean the metal parts with a good degreaser and try again.

I agree that the mags and mag well should be clean, no oil or grease. Clean the well and mags throughly and try again. If they work when warm, the cold should not cause a problem. There is a lot of clearance between the mags and mag well.
