Well, you've got two choices. One, call Trigicon and ask them. Two, buy one and tell us how it works out.

I own and shoot a 500 and a 460 and would NOT put a red dot on them. They are capable of 100 yard Plus ranges and need a telescopic sight to get the most out of the gun. If you shoot the gun at 25 yds. then a red dot is OK.

The Trijicon RMR is designed to be mounted on a semiautomatic's slide. I don't think that a 460 or 500 is any more abusive than that.

Don't count on actually getting to buy one on sale day. Cabelas has been doing these "sale" one day only promos and having actually ONE unit available for purchase. Then it's out of stock..no backorders. I've even tried at 12:01AM the day of the sale...sold out! Ever since Basspro took over...grrr..

In Ohio, If that isn't marked with the quantity available, they have to give you a rain check. As my funds dry up on sale days going late gets rain checks, so I pay at delivery!

Wonder what's up with Cabala's selling RMRs at such discounted prices compared to other sellers?

I recently purchased an RMR from Cabela's at a steep discount, $261 delivered including a low mount and riser mount, for the wife's light weight AR. They had a quantity at the time because several guys on a particular forum purchased them including one of my shooting buddies that I called about the deal.

RMR has a reputation for holding up to abuse on handguns. Plenty of torture test vids including guys hammering them on benches and posts to show durability. If I wanted to mount a red dot on a 500 Magnum I'd chose the RMR.

RMR has made 900 rounds to date on 460

MRO with 600 rounds to date ok

H1 made 1200 rounds before failure- they require date receipt to do warranty and took 4 months
Second one has 1400 rounds and ok

Could not get Deltapoints sighted- tried 2 of them on both 500 and 460- gave up after 100 rounds each test

Ultradot30 made 1400 rounds before failure- Have not returned yet to know have warranty will be handled

Ultradot micro has 1100 rounds and still ok

All other redots tested- those costing less than $100 never it made past first cylinder

Conversely Leupold 2-8x scopes are going 6000 plus rounds and they are repairing without question typically less than 3 weeks turn around.

good luck and be safe
