Wilson Combat 1911s

You should buy both - seriously. Then if you want, sell one for slightly more than you bought it for, reducing the cost of the one even more.

I'd stake my life on a Wilson, as do many of my team guys. Simply amazing pistols and worth well more than what those are selling for.

What he said……Wilson Combat makes a fine 1911, and new at half the price, If I had the cash, I'd be all over that deal.

Semper Fi!

What's the verdict? Did the OP buy one or both? Did he give up the name of the shop? Did somebody else get them? If there is one left I want it!!

I'm right here you know. :) It's Sunday no one is there! Can't do anything until Monday. I will be buying at least 1. If only buy 1 I will let those who want to buy the others have the source. He actually had 3 models reduced a lot. I just didn't write down exactly what they were. So I need that info to check against WCB price listing and type. I will get all that tomorrow. From all I have heard ( since I can't machine my own) this is a good buy both financially (resale) and as a gun user.

At $1800, it's a no-brainer to buy it. There's nothing wrong with the lower end 1911's, but there are really significant differences between a $600 gun and a $4000 gun. Whether or not those differences matter to you is personal preference. I'd rather own one Wilson than any 5 low end models. That being said, I am not much of a 1911 fan, but I have a Les Baer and I think they are the best value in the upper echelon of 1911 pistols, after having owned a Wilson and an Ed Brown.

If it is the Armor Tough finish, you would be looking at around $300 to refinish the gun. If it is just the slide, a lot less. I wondered how a gun could be so expensive, until I shot one.

I own 2, one in awesome shape, and one kinda holster worn. I carry the worn one every day. If you have the $, I would not hesitate at that price.

If anything, get the black one, get it refinished and sell it if you don't want to keep it.

I do have to admit, I am a huge WC fan, have met many of their gunsmiths, and shot with Bill and Ryan Wilson, so fanboy. :D

Hard to beat their warranty and customer service.

I've owned a few Wilson packages that I had performed on guns I sent in.I even owned one Ed Brown Kobra carry at one point.High End 1911's for me was more of a phase I went through.I no longer belong to any match league,so my interest is only in self defense. As long as I can consistently hit a 2 to 3 inch group center mass at 40 ft.Im fine with that.

Here is the one I plan on buying. $1725 plus tax.
I texted owner tonight and said I wanted it. You all talked me into it.

Smart move. I'll be looking forward to your range report and more pics!

That's a smoking deal for the marks on that gun to be discounted that much. If it's going to be a shooter, the marks don't mean a thing. Heck, if it was a duty gun, I'd prefer it premarked.....kind of like getting that first ding in a new car pulling off the lot. I'd happily drive off in a new truck with a few scratches in the paint, if I could get that kind of discount. The other difference is, the Wilson will hold it's value - the truck will not.

Great purchase sir! I can't wait to hear your first range report - you're going to love it.

For $1800 that's a great deal. For the original price of $3500++ I'd be looking at spending that on custom work. There are some great 1911 smiff's I'd be paying instead of buying the Wilson. But for 1800...just buy it. Anyhoo I'm more of a Les Baer guy.

Les Baers are great, not every gun maker lets you do the final 5% of fitting yourself. ;)
And all it costs you is 500 rounds of ammo; if that doesn't do the trick, don't worry, Les'll personally explain to you how to shoot 500 more... :p ;)
