WIN 231

Hoddon's explanation was.....

Well, when your reach out to Hodgdon with the question, they emphatically state that HP-38 and W231 are the exact same powders, that they come off of the same manufacturing line and packaged for Hodgdon and Winchester.

....that they package the two brand only due to 'brand loyalty'. Meaning half of the people said HP-38 is superior in every way and the other half said that W231 is the best and they wouldn't touch junk like HP 38.

I recently stumbled upon 2 pounds of 231 @ $45 per pound. 30% more than I usually pay, but still better than scalper prices.

To answer the above question.
my 231 jugs were 8 lbs. each
including 100 Small Pistol Primers surprise bonus

Do you think $235 was too much?

The difference between HP-38 and Win 231 is W231 always seems to cost a couple bucks more.

Now THAT is true! Unexplainable, but true. Seen it way too many times over many, many years.

4 or 5 years ago

I asked my reloading store guy for some HP-38 and he said didn't have any but had 231. Told him I didn't want to pay premium and he said he sold them for same price. I asked for a pound but he only had 4pndrs. I still have it as I'm a Unique kinda guy and was just buying for an emergency...............
