Winchester 1892

Born in the late 1950s, I don’t know why it took me until 2022 to get a single action revolver. Now that I did, I have to have a lever action rifle in 45 Colt too don’t I?

This is a late 1990s Miroku production Winchester 1892.

I bought one of these new about twenty years ago. Well built and accurate as I recall. I found only one minor drawback for my purposes and one that may or may not affect other shooters.

I had always used the popular Lyman #454424 design (255 gr. SWC) seated to an OAL of 1.64" for use in a couple of S&W 25-5s. To function through the magazine of the '92 Miroku, this bullet had to be seated considerably deeper, though I don't have that figure in my notes. Other bullets may not require a deep seating.

Moroku makes superb rifles and shotgun. I have a 1992 vintage Browning Citori made by Moroku and it's the gun that netted my very first 25 in Skeet.

As for the 1892, I have an original made in 1904 in 32-20. Fortunately for me the previous owner had Winchester re-barrel it in 357 Magnum and re-finish the action. End result is a very nice shooter instead of a collectable in a somewhat obscure caliber.

I have a Winchester/Miroku 1892 in .45 Colt. The barrel is marked "Limited Series 1 of 500". Serial number 002??MY92A. I had to get a .45 Colt revolver to go with the rifle, and I picked up a very nice Doug Turnbull USFA, serial number ??2DT. Could this be why I live such a happy life?

I have one of those Miroku Winchester model 92s in .45 Colt.

Picked it up about ten years ago new. With 300 grain Hornady XTPs on top of 20 grains of Winchester 296 it will get the job done. And the 16" barrel makes that thing handy as all get out.
I also have one of a run that they did in the early nineties chambered in 32 WCF. A great round for a really handy little gun.
The 32-20 claims to be a Browning model 53, but it is really a Miroku model 92.

According to Winchester's records, my Model 1892 chambered in .44-40 was produced in 1919.

I would think the best candidate for a match in .45 Colt would be the Model 25-6.

Winchester '92s a fun bunch. Here are four of mine in the four common calibers.

All my 92's have been off brands, like Navy Arms, Rossi, one Browning and one 1950's Tigre'.

I did SASS shooting so when I paired them up it was with two Single Actions. I don't own a 25 any longer, but still have 28's and 686's.

Going a similar direction, I have a pair of Uberti No3 Russians in 44 Russian and a Uberti 73 in 44 Special.

I picked up this Winchester 1873 model in .45 Colt at the Wanenmacher show this past weekend. It's recent production, made by Miroku, 16" barrel.

I also have a Rossi R92 in .357/.38 with a 24" octagonal barrel that I bought a few months ago. I replaced the bolt-mounted safety with a peep sight.
