Winchester bulk white box are garbage

I don't know if this applies here, but it appears as if Winchester's WB 22 has had an improvement in quality lately. Newer batches are more consistent. I haven't had any problems with newer WWB out of my 22 rifles lately including my 15-22, H&K G36K-22, Beretta ARX 160-22, Mossberg 715t.

Strangely, wwb works well in 3 of my four 22 firearms. Although I do have one that is just like the op's experience. For me it is federal bulk that is junk. I would gladly trade my unopened 550 round federal boxes for the wwb's.

Why is it that cci can make a rimfire cartridge that seems to work well in nearly all rimfire guns but federal and winchester seemingly cannot?

I'll second that. I've had good luck with them in my 15-22 too.

I guess I'm lucky cause Win 555 bulk works about as good as any other bulk in my 15-22 and 10-22.

A hand full of failures of some sort per box. It even works in the 50 rd Black Dog drum which is not recommended for hollow points at all.

My 15-22 LOVES 555. I buy it out of preference. My friends 522 doesn't run on it so I swapped him S&B for his.

I did find this in the last box I shot

For what its worth, I just picked up 3 of the 555 boxes of WB last week. This past Tuesday, I took a ride up into the state forest with my Walther p-22, GSI 1911 .22, Ruger MKll, and smith 18. Worked fine in all my guns except the Ruger, which was admittedly very dirty, and in dire need of a good cleaning.

The title says it all. Two weekends, two different guns and the same result both times. Out of about 200 rounds total, I had at least 7 or 8 FTF and at least another 10 FTE. Last week it was in my M&P 15-22 and this week it was in my Ruger MKIII 22/45 and both times with perfectly clean guns, it was a terrible with close to 10% failure rate of some sort.

I wouldn't even buy these again unless I could find them for $.05/round. Anything higher than that, you're wasting your money.
How much lube do you put on those guns? Reason I am asking is in the old days before I knew better I use to overlube my rimfires and I found I had to run about 50 rounds thru them before they were 100%. Now I admit Win HP ammo is not the best but that seems excessive even for Win ammo. Sorry you had the problems. Admittedly the only one of my rimfires I will use Win ammo in is my Browning BL-22 levergun where it does not matter.

I bought some of the white box last year. I'm not sure about other guns but my 15-22 rifle and M&P 22 pistol can't shoot a full mag of this ammo without FTF. It's junk.....

If anyone wants to get rid of their white box ammo I would be willing to take it off your hands for you. Could trade for other ammo such as CCI Mini Mag HP although not 1 for1 I would give you a fair deal or I will pay cash. PM me.

Concept1- I feel for you man, i know how frustrating that is.
I Felt the same way about the Federal automatch. I had a terrible time with it! worse than 10% failure to extract. However i found that if i shoot some of my Gecco through it first (to help lube everything up) then i have no problem at all with the the Automatch. Might try the same thing if you have more of the white box left. The gecco has an oily feel to it while the Automatch has a waxy sticky feel to it. Not sure how the WWB is, just offering a suggestion to try. Hope all works out!

Oh and since i tried the Gecco i havnt had a single failure in over 4k rounds with either gecco or Automatch. I would love to try some of the cheap stuff but i cant find anything cheaper than 10cents a round.

That might work. I do have some Geco laying around.
