I ran across this vid on You Tube and got a surprisingly nice awakening. I've seen the buying up of all our American ammo producers by Euro corporations that have endangered our supply in anyway they please. This vid makes Winchester seem to be an American hero, and they may very well be.

I definitely like the idea of domestic manufacturing and domestic ownership of manufacturing. Still does not get around having to import materials like nitrocellulose.

Recent attempts to use Win. 22 and 10 mm was say the least horrible. Attempted use in Mdl. 16, 17 and 18 S&Ws. 10 mm use in DW Razorback, Ruger LC 10 mm carbine and latest in Colt Delta Elite 10 mm. Most friends in gun club also Avoid Win. ammo. A truly sad situtaion.

Probably good reason neither worked in your Model 16.

I'm not sure any brand works in S&W 17s and 48s. Please tell me a brand that does work. I'm sure there are many of us who would like to know. Just wondering.

Only CCIs in16s,17s & 18s. Fed. is ok in Mdl. 48 but CCIs always works well. Been shooting since late 50s, US Army. Army pistol team after Vietnam, managed indoor shooting range in mid 70s, collecting and shooting S&Ws and Colt 1911s for decades. MG and cartridge cannon shoots in NC for years. Been there and done it. The fun we’ve had…

Pretty SCARY to think we only have one major ammo factory left that is American owned. When owned by foreiigner's they can be coerced by who knows who to have shortages, slow downs and actually control what is sold to the public. Gun control can be accomplished by just limiting ammunition.

The foreign sell out of Federal, CCI, Remington, Speer, etc. was not by accident! Of course Winchester ammo will cost more and if their sales are not supported they will more than liekly sell out too - or risk collapse.

Not trying to start a panic buy, but might I suggest those here who reload get their components while they can and those who do not reload get enough ammo for the long haul. In general, it won't be getting any easier or cheaper! Remember, the "powers that be" outside the USA wants us disarmed - and that is no secret! When the lawmakers and administration changes in a few years who knows in what direction things will go.

Got that covered. At 69 years of age I think I have enough to last the next 31 years. 14400 22 LR, 2630 44 Mag/Spl rds, 21 lbs W-W 231, 1 lb W-W 296, 17400 primers, 10650 cast or plated bullets and enough lead to cast another 7800 more. That should about do it for me.

Sure sorry to hear of the issues. FWIW, Some Winchester ammo that has performed near flawlessly for me over the last quarter century or so is the Winchester .45 ACP ball, 38 Spcl., WWB 9mm from Walmart, and Q4318 9mm NATO ball.

I said "performed near flawlessly" because a few years ago I got a round of 9mm WWB from Wally World that was clearly defective. This was the Winchester Q4172, not the NATO 9mm. The Win. 9mm Q4318 NATO has performed flawlessly...

What's even scarier is that CSG group is owned by one person Michal Strnad
They are into a lot of things!
