Living in Jersey it is hard to sell or trade a handgun.
Even if you sell it on Gunbroker it is very hard and expensive to ship.

1) Took 2 handguns that would have netted me $550 on a good day, added $125 and came home with a Winchester 88 (1955 in .308)

2) Added a Leupold scope that cost me $125

Note: I don't hunt and the hard kicking Winchester 88 was no fun at the range.

3) Went to a gun show and traded the Winchester 88 for a 1937 solid frame Model 1897 Riot gun.

Here it is with my 1957 Model 12 Riot:
Isn't America great!

Nice! I think you did great - nice 97s are getting hard to find.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who ends up in three way convoluted trades.

Am I correct that the .308 Model 88 is not the favorite hunting rifle of most people?

Seems that Winchester types are fondest of the Model 70 and The Savages are partial to the 99.

Very nice. Thanks for the pics. Love those 1897. I got three of them. Salvaged from the rust bucket giveaways at local shop. Had fun rebuilding and learning their history.

I know the scratches and the wear ruins it (*see below*)

Lucky duck! I've been looking for one of those for years. Since this cowboy shooting craze started, they are hard to find.

I'm glad we don't live close to each other. We trade too much alike and would cramp each others' style. ;) It also appears we have the same or at least similar taste. Nice job!!!

I went to a show on Sunday trying to sell my WWII Stevens 620 Riot
and the plan was to then go to the range to shoot the Model 88.

Ended up coming home without the Model 88 but with a second shotgun:o
