Hi,

I have some boxes of Winchester white box 357 Magnum 158 grs Lead SWC, but can't find any data. Can someone provide velocity or even did chrono them?

regards
Ulrich

If it's old, it's the original .357 load. Hot, and leads a lot. Part of why few agencies actually used .357 Magnum ammunition in the old days. If it's newer, I'm guessing it might be a Cowboy Action-type loading and very mild (.38 Special). I seem to remember some companies loading this for use in .357 lever-action guns that sometimes choked on .38 Special cases, but I am going off memory and...what were we talking about?

sorry for confusing you. This is a White Box probably made in the 2000's, I bought them in 2009, so it must be out of production not for too long. It's a very soft LSWC as it leads the barrel of my 27-3 very rapidly, but i would rate it some kind of full house load, quite stout and not to compare to a 38 Spl, feels like all the other 357 loads I shot (Magtech, Fiocchi etc).

What are your plans for this old ammo?
I don't want to come off as one getting into your business
but have seen throughout the years some people will use old ammo and think nothing of it, believing it to perfectly ok
to use it in everyday activities.
Some think their saving a buck and have loaded them in their
carry weapon.
I'm certain this is not your intent, but i brought it up for the
sake of others who may not know better.
