I made an extra slidefire block, doesnt look too bad either. You could shape any design you wanted as well. How do you shoot it without a grip though? I guess it'd be hard.
You know what? After posting those pictures, I wouldn't mind making custom ones. Gives me something to do on my time off. I guess I'd have to look at the actual laws to see what designs I could get away with without it being a "pistol grip". Maybe a single hook for the middle finger? Something to think about I guess.

All the NY compliant rifles of the last 10 years with pinned stocks and no flash hiders, are now being lumped in with the pre-ban rifles. So does this mean we can unpin our stocks since the pistol grip means registering it anyway?

That's what I take from it. The MP 15-22 is a banned gun now. So having an adjustable stock with a pistol grip looks to be ok because that cant be sold anymore and having a pinned stock was a way to sell it NY. I would wait till the end of the year when you have to register the gun though. Like many of said the law might change and maybe could go back to the 2 feature way it use to be.

If they make the process take up to a few months, and everyone waits til towards the end of the grace period, will any guns not already through the system by the deadline become immediately in violation? I mean if they put say a 6 month waiting period on it, if you put your paperwork in too late the day of the deadline they have your info and where to come collect the gun. "Sorry, it wasn't registered in time. Hand it over or go to jail."

I dont believe it would take very long at all. Give the make model and serial number of your gun. They do a background check on you which usually takes all of 20 minutes if not less. When you get cleared they will give you your paperwork and call it a day. It would be like registering your car at the DMV but with a background check.

I hope this isn't too much of a rant, so I'll try to put a question in here...

My beloved 15-22 is New Jerk compliant, or so I thought. So now my dilemma is how to legalize it without having to register it.

As most of you may know, only 1 evil feature is enough to criminalize a semi with a detatchable magazine. Since my "NY compliant" semi has only a 10 rounder, I can squeak by that reg as long as I am sure to never load more than 7 rounds in the mag. I can figure that one out no problem.

The dilemma is that pesky pistol grip - that's the evil feature.

The pistol grip on my AK is removable, so that one was just made legal. It still handles well, so I can live with that. It was a post-ban rifle, so it complies in all other respects.

I tried to remove the pistol grip from my 15-22, and found that it secures some springs for the safety. So, that's a problem. What I need is a "cap" or something to cover the spot where the pistol grip goes.

I wonder if S&W will come up with a "part" to accomplish that task, and thus make my 14-22 NY compliant again??

Any words of wisdom?

I'd say that you have two real options.

Opt A: Move to a free state. Take you talents and tax dollars and get the heck out of commie land.

Opt B: Forget their unconstitutional BS, leave your rifle "as is", and take your chances. Basically, they passed one infringement on your 2nd Amendment rights, you generously complied, then they changed the rules. At this point...screw em.

I'd recommend Opt A since it is available.

It really irks me when people throw this out like it is a real viable option. Option? Yes. Viable? No. It's really not for most: jobs, kids, house, business, family, history, endless other local obligations - it is not that easy to pick up and leave and people throw this out like it is something you can just up and do like no big deal.

I love guns, love them.. but I cannot see moving out of a state, the massive cost involved of doing so, the radical change in life and burdens it brings just to make a point that will fall on deaf ears. Guns and the right to own them and shoot them is very important to me, but my quality of life is more important and I would not likely pick up and up root my whole life for it. Instead, I would learn how to play just inside the laws in my state and get on with life. I should know, I have been a shooter in CA for 20 years and it is an inconvenience, but there are legal ways around most of the BS.

First, it is for AR15's, I showed it to make a point.

And no, no one has as it is not out just yet. It is brand new. But the guy that makes it, here in CA, is awesome and has developed several AR15 products that play within our CA laws. For example, his "ultimate bullet button tool" that attaches to your Ar15 mag and allows you to drop the mag using a "tool" attached to your magazine to meet the CA law. Almost as fast as using your finger to drop a mag BUT uses a loophole to get around the current law.

If you search on "featureless" rifle, you will see other options like the ugly "hammerhead". All for the AR15 really, but this one is the best and most refined design. Again, making the point of what "could" be done.

Fair enough...

but I bet when push comes to shove, most won't. Hell, most can barely afford to get by day to day given the cost of living - imagine the costs and headaches of moving just to make a point. I would rather be able to run on the beach today in the middle of winter in a t-shirt, do a trail race in the local mountains tomorrow, AND be able to shoot at the range tomorrow night and I can do all of that right here in CA. The grass is not always greener on the other side and once you make that move, it is not like you get to shoot and work with guns 24/7 - real life kicks in and you find guns - for most people - consume a small part of their lives and now you have moved and..... now what? Great, you made a point, but to whom and at what cost? I would rather spend the time and energy to learn my laws, play in them, and try to get my laws changed as I love where I live.. even with the **** gun laws.

The Solar Tactical Grip Wrap doesn't look too bad. IMO

The Monsterman Grip seems like not a bad choice either.

And while the Hammerhead would be my last choice, still better than nothing

I like the look of the FRS since it's like a skeletonized monte carlo stock.

No one said there taking our sporting rifles in NY. They want you to register them. You can still use them in every way you have done before.

Then buy a 10/22 or if you live in NY sell it out side the state. All owners of sporting rifles and hand guns will have to register there weapons and re do it every 5 years. No way around it unless they amend the current bill.

I shoot in the Mountains of Colorado. It's wide open.

My advice would be to make it N.Y. compliant when transporting. Find some place where there are no people. Install the parts & have fun.

Register, wait a couple of years & loose you 15/22.

id hold off until the dust settles and the law is formally passed and approved.i kind of had a feeling that new york would be one of the first states to jump on the antigun bandwagon since we all know cuomo has aspirations to become the next president.otherwise the link provided in this thread showing the kit for a normal style rifle stock MIGHT make your 15-22 state compliant,only time will tell though.as stated above be very careful with what others are telling you to do,dont get into trouble because of bad internet advice.

It hit the newspaper on Monday evening and was passed by Tuesday afternoon. The horse is already out of the barn and long gone. By Wednesday you needed a nics check to buy .22 RF ammo.
