My wife got up this morning and headed to the kitchen to feed the cats. We just got them some new food and they really like it.
The cat bowl's on a mat on our kitchen floor next to the 'fridge.
My wife said the mat was wet and as she looked further she found that it wasn't just in that one spot. Didn't smell like cat tinkle, must have been water. But from where?
The water had been coming out of the ice maker in our 'fridge.
We didn't have time to do anything about it at the time, my wife had a dental appointment and we also planned on getting a workout at the YMCA, so we shut off the water to the house and mopped up the mess.
Our ice maker had been acting up, so we had ordered one with the intention of installing a new one. The old one kinda limped along so we put off changing it.
When we got home I put the new ice maker in. It needed to be replaced anyway.
That didn't fix it. So I looked further and removed the water valve. I figure it's the only other thing it could be. Problem is there's no way to take it apart to try to fix it.
I've got one on order. It costs 'bout $40.
Supposed to get here by May 5th. 'Til then I've got the line pinched off with a pair of channel locks and a screw in the end.
We're gonna go on a road trip this weekend to attend a wedding. We're gonna shut the water off again.
I'm looking forward to getting that ice maker working again.
