Probably will be a couple days before I can get to try it out.
Wife has the flu bad, I have a milder case, but still not real ambitious about anything. Weather is nice but cold so I may head to an indoor range later this week.

I got mine last Friday and gave it a trail run today. I am very happy. The reviews are correct, it just works! I tested a center fire rifle, a 22 LR rifle and a suppressed .223. I didn't miss a shot. Simply set it up on the bench and point it toward the target and have at it. I don't find the app all that useful, but it is a way to extract the data in a .csv file. The buttons on the chronograph itself are simple to use but not quite intuitive. With some more use, I'm sure I'll get used to their functions. The menus are fine but at this point I bumble around for the right button.

I have used chronographs for a lot of years. A couple optical ones, a Magnetospeed and a Labradar. This is the only one that didn't take some amount of fussing with or miss shots.

How accurate is it compared to the others?

Sorry, but my token dumb question. Is this Garmin chronograph basically a radar-style driven chronograph?

Yes. It's a radar chronograph.

I don't have the specs for other chronographs, but Garmin specifies the following for theirs:

Rifle measurement accuracy: +/- 0.1% of the target velocity

Bow, pistol, and air rifle measurement accuracy: +/- 0.4% of the target velocity

I'm glad I didn't buy stock in LabRadar. It will be interesting to see what companies like Caldwell come up with after they get a change to reverse engineer the Garmin.

Give it a charge and turn it on so it can do a software update. Then you won't run into the software update while at the range.

I like the app for storing sessions. It makes it easy to label the sessions and put notes in.
