Wood Boxes - Yuck!

Why all the fascination with these big, bulky, cumbersome, difficult to maintain, wooden boxes? They take up so much room, they get scratched easily, and are just a pain in the butt. Hinges break, insides completely deteriorate. Give me a nice two piece blue box with a label that matches the gun inside anytime. Tools are nice though.

I love wood. Black walnut, birdseye maple, bubinga. To me wood on guns and wood boxes are what separates them from the run of the mill stuff nowadays being dumped out by the manufacturers.

I don't know, it just seems kinda sad to me. Maybe I'm just a dinosaur but I appreciate old style craftsmanship. Metal guns, leather holsters and wood boxes. Now it's plastic framed guns, plastic holsters and plastic boxes.
