What do I touch up my lower receiver with I had to replace a sticking bolt release lever. Even taped the area and still made a nice bright silver mark. I don't think these things are blued but a black Sharpie doesn't match either. Oh well the nwe release lever works great. This is my first build so just happy it works. Don

birchwood casey aluminum black should work for you - probably wont be an exact match but isnt shiny like a sharpie and much better than a tactical sticker

If you go the birchwood route, just be aware when selecting the paint stick, what you are buying, they have a couple of variations of black and one of them is glossy. Also buy from a source that frequently stocks it as it is known to dry out rather quickly. I.E. after you touch up your scratch with it, it might setup before you get to use it again. If you store it in your refrigerator, it'll have a longer shelf life.

Thanks everyone that is the info I needed. The touch up doesn't have to be petty it won't effect the groups but right now the bright 2" scratch stands out like a sore thumb. Don

the aluminum black isnt a paint stick - it is a liquid you let sit a minute or so then rinse off - according to the label it color aluminum from a deep gray to black depending on alloy

Yes I found it at Brownell's can't order it yet as someone in Ca. tried to used my debit card number and my bank canx my card now have to wait 10 days. Wish these places took Pay Pal.

have you checked your local LGS? they often have that & a few other birchwood casey finishing/touch up supplies with the cleaning supplies

I used BirchWood Casey Black to touch up some areas on a few of mine, matches pretty good, looks OK, may work for you.
It's worth try anyway
Definitely works better and lasts longer than a Sharpie will
Hope this helps

Even "covered up," you'll always know the scratch is there.

I recommend not worrying about these things.

Equipment gets used.

Equipment gets damaged.

True, and it is not like this is a high dollar gun. I am really happy with the savings building my own and can strip it down to the smallest parts. Worth a scratch or two. Don

AR15s need a few scratches to look correct. Those without scratches are often owned by girly-men. It's an AR not a Perazzi!

You have a good point there and I guess even with it being a bench rest gun I could still shoot Zombies with it if they are down range from the bench. Don

Call me a girly-man then, I just like to take care of my stuff, doesn't mean I don't have a knick or two, but I'm not going to throw it across the concrete to prove me manliness....

*** is a Perazzi???? Do you need to check your man card???:D

I have gun that got thrown down a concrete drainage ditch going from an overpass to the road below.

Its my favorite scratch.

I gotta get the seals fixed on that gun.

Fill it with red paint and make it a "custom feature". You'll start a fad.

My Crossman Powermaster was my favorite pellet gun when I was a kid. Wish I still had it. Seals crapped out, and I tossed it many years ago. Looked just like yours, but without the cool scratches.

Heck when I was putting my lower together the guy on the YouTube video was taping everything so he wouldn't scratch it. I just used whatever the closest device I could hit my punches with and made a few scratches doesn't bother me and if I scratch it before I put it together it takes away having to worry about scratching it
