Woops scratched it

Get a a spray can of flat black enamel. Spray a small amount in a disposable dish. Use a nylon tipped q-tip swab to apply paint into scratch or nick. As it's drying use a swab dipped in thinner or acetone to feather the edges of the paint. When dry, use a regular cloth to further feather the edges.
Even a bench rest gun will always get scratched.

I use this method to repair cosmetic scratches on customer's guns. I don't mind scratches on mine.
