Would it be the end of the world...

The thing about the Walmart ammo posts that amazes me is many seem to imply that Walmart is the only place to buy ammo. My local Walmart quit selling guns and ammo around the turn of the century. Even when they were selling shooting supplies, I never thought of them as a go to supplier. There is a Walmart two miles from my home and I buy windshield wiper blades there, occasionally I get an oil change there, but I have never thought of Walmart as a guns and ammo store. I do live in a big city with lots of suppliers, but even at that I've done a lot of mail order ammo purchases over the years.

I like Walmart...I feel like I'm connected to the masses, the major food brands are priced right, the ammo is cheap, and it's all good. Now, the only thing that would get my kilt in a lather and spell the end of the world as I know it, would be if the sequester results in a law that requires my lifeless body be sold to Ikea, and made into meatballs, all with the intent of bringing down the debt and deficit.

I just wish Sam's Club would start selling ammo. I would love to roll out of there with one of those flat bed carts loaded up! lol

More legal access to firearms and ammunition is better than less. Wal-Mart does a good job of this despite public sentiment, business decisions and laws that forced just about everyone else out.

I grew up in a now extremely anti-gun state. Not to pick on them, but...K Mart, JC Penney, Sears, Montgomery Ward, Oshman's, etc., all used to have gun departments where I lived. No fair guessing the only chain store that still has one, albeit outside (a major) city limits?

I say support them when you can (no, I don't work for Wally World :) ).

Target used to sell guns & ammo too. When they quit, years ago, I stopped going there as often even though they originated in Minnesota - the home of Liberal Lakes.

I used to pick up a box of Winchester .38 or .40 FMJ every other week when getting groceries.

Ain't been able to do that for about 2 months.

Bullet cabinet is always empty except for some 25.06 or some slugs.

They are a business and sell much more (dollar and volume-wise) than guns and ammunition. What they have done is allowed the local markets to determine what they can or should do and not run away from the business completely. If there is enough opposition (or lack of sales volume) they could change their minds in the future, but so far they've stuck with gun owners.

I agree. Wally World has tons of stores in this area...all sell ammo to extent. Some do not sell firearms AT ALL. But if you go outside the city and into the rural areas, you find they have SOME selection of firearms. I haven't seen handguns in a long time, but rifles and shotguns are at the counters. It just depends on which store and where you live.

Not to me it wouldn't. Would make zero difference since WallMarts in my area dont sell guns or ammo to begin with. I have a nice drive to get to one that does.

Cant complain about our local wm except for no ammo for the past couple of months, before that they always had the shelves full, were very friendly and knowledgeable. Plus I guess I bought so much there they call me by name when I go in.

Walked into Walmart Thursday about noon.
They just received TWO Colt AR15(6920) priced at $1097.00
However, I was the second guy passin thru.
The first dude bought both.

They had zero pistol ammo.

I have no beef with WalMart. I bought three 22 rifles from them this year. Rifles I could not find anywhere else. Same ole WalMart price (no inflation) and the folks that checked me out were darn nice.

As long as WalMart can make a profit on ammo, you can bet that they will carry it. That is the American way.

That was ONE store and it was a local issue, not corporate policy.

If WalMart was anti-gun corporately, it would not be the largest ammo retailer in the country, nor the largest firearms retailer in the country.

As stated above, Wal Mart sells More guns than any other retailer. So what is the issue. I do not particular like Wal Mart nor do I like going there but they are here to stay and employe a lot of people. Yes most stuff is from China but what is not these days.?

Remember K Mart and they had their "sub" store Sporting goods? It was in the store but had one entrance into the area. They had great fishing, camping and guns. Sears had nice rifles also. Why does anyone care if they ask rifle or handgun, do you care if the buzzer goes off or they ID you for buying spray paint so you do not sniff it? I used to like getting carded when I was in my 30's:D Now it's yes Sir.:(

i just wish my local walmart would get some ammo to sell again.everytime i go there they literally have none but then again i live in a larger city and our LGS are sold out too so walmart is constantly being hit for the ammo as soon as it hits the shelves and its gone right away.since i work everyday 9-5 im sure i miss out on the shipments.

I've bought 2 AR's and quite a bit of ammo from my local Walmart in the last 4 weeks. People in my store are very friendly and know what they are talking about.

Zero issue with the Walmarts in my area and I have about 4 or 5 within a 20-25 minute ride from my house. Have found the people working in the Sporting Good section to be very gun friendly and wishing they had more to sell.

Have found that some LGS do have ammo usually a buck or 2 cheaper than Walmart but I'll pay that extra buck for convenience certain times (like 24 hour open :) )

I personally like to go to my closest two Walleyworlds with
the wife. She goes to the clothes section or Groceries and i go
off to the sporting goods. They carry ammo at reasonable prices
unlike most places now, and even carry the dreaded Black Rifles.
Also Savage, Remington bolt guns and several different types
and makes of shotguns. The people working there are nice and
helpful and are pro-gun in my area anyways. I save a lot of money
buying groceries there and i have no problem with them.

I am not anti Walmart, thought I tend to shop else where. But I do go there. I want as many places as possible. Plus cheap stuff helps some people.

I just hate they got the ammo locked up, and you got to find someone. Some of the places, you can walk up it, but some places it is so far away I can read it. I got into with a manager about it. I went behind the counter, with my hands in my pocket, the ammo was in a locked glass case.

I hope they keep selling it, small towns that sometimes is all there is.

whether your local wally store sells ammo or guns is up to the current manager. also quantities of same. in our local store they get ammo every week, but only 1 case of each type whether 22lr or anything else. you need to be there when they put it out if you want any and they limit quantities to 3 boxes of a type.

I've bought a few things over the years from WalMart, recently been buying a bit of ammo as I can occasionally find it. They don't sell guns, not sure they ever did. I support the local gun shops until they ran out of darn near everything. Since then, the little ammo I have bought locally has been from WalMart. I've bought a bit more from Cabella's when I'm near the store but the WalMart is 4 miles away and the Cabellas is 40...
