Would like manufacture dates on 2 revolvers.

Hello Forum.

I have 2 S&W revolvers I would like to have the manufacture date on.

1. Model 657 Ser # AVB5912. Stainless 41 caliber with 4" barrel

2. Modl 60-9 Ser # CYA0566 357 mag with 2 1/8" barrel.

SCSW 3rd ed. places AVB in 1987.

AVB prefix most likely shipped in 1987
CYA prefix is listed under 2015, but the Model 60 versions are more complicated than a simple lookup, so someone else will have to help with that.

The SCSW book lists years and prefixes based on guns for which ship dates are known, and does not guarantee that your specific gun shipped in the same year as another one with the same serial no. prefix... Some prefixes appear under more than one year.
