Would you be happy

There is one of you. OK.

There are twenty of them. Um. Less than OK.

They are armed with MAC 10 45 ACP SMGs. OK.

You are armed with an American 180 22LR SMG, with laser sights and ONE 177-round drum magazine. Um. Less than OK.

Would you feel confident in the outcome? Yes. I'm confident they would kill me. I might get some of them, but not all.

They don't know exactly where you are, and you know, pretty much, where they are, so you have the advantage of sneaking up on 'em. This is not full-out "battle". You only have the element of surprise once. After that, they know where you are, and the full-out battle commences.

But still, would you be happy with that gun choice? No. I would want something bigger, more familiar (I've never even handled an A180, much less shot one), and about two platoons of Marine grunts with me. Anything less than that, I'm outta there.

Sir, my answers are in red above. This does not sound like a survivable scenario to me, at least not for a normal mortal outside of Hollywood.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

"There are twenty of them.": I"They are armed with MAC 10 45 ACP SMGs.": They may be ill-armed, inadequately armed, but they are armed nonetheless...

And since there are 20 of them there is an outside chance you might catch a stray bullet by accident... ;)

I would love to have one of those American 180's
but if there are 20 bad guys after me with anything
that shoots real bullets i'm not happy. I take a big
plastic pop container and make me a silencer. Then
i use my shoe phone to call in an ammo order to
Cabelas for some subsonics.

There is one of you.

There are twenty of them. They haven't got a chance.

They are armed with MAC 10 45 ACP SMGs. Unless some of they are willing to "take one for the team," they will all stay behind cover and not close the distance to get to me. And... I'll not be advertizing my position. In fact, I'll be relocating to less crowded real estate. Those who get in the way would get dealt with.

You are armed with an American 180 22LR SMG, with laser sights and ONE 177-round drum magazine. This would be fine. After initial contact and disengagement, I'd pick up one of the Mac's and the other magazines which would be good for if/when things got up close and personal.

Would you feel confident in the outcome? Absolutely. To paraphrase Connell (The Most Dangerous Game) I'd fine the whole affair to be a "game worth playing... outdoor chess!"

They don't know exactly where you are, and you know, pretty much, where they are, so you have the advantage of sneaking up on 'em. This is not full-out "battle". Of course it would not be a full on battle. To say the least, it would be interesting... like a fox hunting cats.

But still, would you be happy with that gun choice? I'd be fine with it. It would suffice for what had to be done. Of course as soon as opportunity allowed, I'd pick up loose Mac's and magazines.

Sillier than "one gun", "one handgun", "one knife", "one belt-fed machine gun"? Sillier than "errors on this or that TV show/Movie"?

I thought this was the place for silly threads....jest sayin' :p

silly threads have value too. We can't take ourselves too seriously

My delusional glory days are over, so I can honestly say regardless of what I am armed with I would not be happy with 20 guys armed with automatic weapons chasing me.

Alpo, I am so glad you said, in your second post, that this was a book.

At first, especially with the title of "Would You Be Happy," I thought you had completely lost your mind.

I like novels, and adventure-type ones at that, but this one seems just a little bit, a tad, far-fetched.

Missed the part about a book, thought you was serious :D
On and that "one belt fed machine gun" thread was meant to be tongue and groove ;)

Sure! I'd be ok - as long as I could find some civilians or natives. Then I could trade them that cool .22 for a boat and get off that island!

Pray, allow me to edumakate you.

This was a 22LR Sub Machine Gun. It was about a long as an M1 Carbine. It used a 177-round drum magazine that sat on top of it, like a Lewis gun. It had a laser in the forearm - the first laser-sighted gun I'd ever heard of. It has a selector switch, so you have the option of semi-auto fire.

Thanks for educating me about this interesting trinket --- I'm now not merely suspicious, but thoroughly convinced, that it is an inadequate defense against 20 assassins with .45 ACP subguns.

Now, if we were to introduce a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun into the discussion...
