Duty carried a .40 cal. P229 for 20 years. Never found it "snappy." It was accurate and reliable in all kinds of adverse environmental conditions. My most recent semiauto handgun purchase: A .40 cal. P239, which can be easily converted to .357 Sig or 9mm. Would I buy another? Yup!

It's worth remembering that the .40 S&W was developed because the 9mm of that day wasn't considered to be getting the job done.

Bullet development has come a long way in the past 25 years which has benefited the 9mm a great deal, but certainly not hurt the .40 S&W.

Why get a .40 when I have several .45ACP firing guns - M1911A1, SIG 220 and SAR K2?
