Would you buy a "coated" smith?

My 10-5 house gun, four-inch standard barrel, is fine mechanically and had a black coating (don't know if it's Cerakote) when I bought it for a knocking-around-the-woods-in-all-kinds-of-weather piece. I can't ramble around the woods anymore, but still have the gun and like it.

It's not unsightly to me; but I'm not a purist, just a pragmatist with very little money. I always bought guns that were functional. If they looked really good, and some did, that was a bonus.

bet that gets you at least a 3 second advantage in a self defense position... assuming the bad guy could even stop laughing...
