I frequently read posts in which people say nobody notices them printing. I really wonder does nobody notice or is nobody saying anything?

So here's the situation, you're walking through Walmart. You notice somebody Who You Don't Know printing or the butt of their gun is visible in their pocket.

Would you mention it or mind your own business.

Is "printing" a term that came about only because of the concealed carry hobby/fad/ duty? I don't recall the word being used in such a way before that.

What is Cooper's Condition Yellow?
According to Cooper condition yellow is a general awareness that the world is not a safe place. He described it as going about your business as normal with the thought in the back of your mind "I may have to defend myself today."

Straight from the horse's mouth

So, based on that, if the other poster had to actually see somebody with a gun before he went into condition yellow he's waaay behind the curve

One evening in Walmart, I complemented a fellow shopper on his choice of a classic Colt DS or Cobra as his carry gun. His eyes got real big as he had intended to NOT be open carrying. A gracious thank you followed.
Did you go around his wife to say it?

Jeff Cooper is considered by many/some to be the "father" of modern combat handgun methods.
As described above his method taught an awareness "code" that was by color.
It is a good system and is taught in many different schools other than just Cooper's Gunsight Academy.
