Would You Tell Someone If You Noticed Them Printing.

I would not say anything. Ours is a constitutional carry state, open carry allowed. Most people are not very observant, and many have their face buried in their smart phone.

“The concealed carry hobby/fad/duty”… not sure why a method of self defense would be called a hobby/fad/duty. Are seatbelts and fire extinguishers hobby/fad/duties as well?

You can see something showing a print or outline through fabric so printing would be actively having a discernible outline of something. Example: “My erection was printing through my pants at the sperm bank, everyone could clearly see I was excited to donate.”

Not attempting to be argumentative but curious as to why pretty common usage of a word would bother someone.
Regarding common usage of a word... that was merely a statement; I've noticed the word's usage increased considerably with concealed carry. Again, a statement. As for hobby/fad/duty... depending on the comments of many, many different people, concealed carry can be one or more of the three. "Method of self defense" would certainly be in the "duty" category, but "hobby" and "fad" often intermingle but can be isolated.

You lost me on the alleged sperm bank analogy. No analogy there. Relax.

Jeff Cooper had five levels of situational awareness. Condition yellow would be being aware of your surroundings.
Okay, you're talking about simply being observant. No conditions or extra words needed to complicate things.

I frequently read posts in which people say nobody notices them printing. I really wonder does nobody notice or is nobody saying anything?

So here's the situation, you're walking through Walmart. You notice somebody Who You Don't Know printing or the butt of their gun is visible in their pocket.

Would you mention it or mind your own business.
If they were only printing? No. If their pistol was fully exposed and it appears they are unaware? Depends on the situation.

Here's an example: My wife and I were eating lunch in a casual restaurant a few years back when I noticed a gentleman at the table next to us leaning forward in his chair. His shirt had hiked up his back and his pistol was not only fully exposed but sticking out the back of his chair (he was wearing it in the small of his back). I looked over at my wife and drew her attention to it, saying to her: "That's not safe. Even a small child could walk behind him and grab his gun before he could react! Should I tell him?"

My wife just smiled and replied: "I'll handle it!"

She strolled over to the gentleman, leaned over and cupped her hand around his ear and whispered to him with a sly smile on her face. To this day I still don't know exactly what she said to him, but he blushed about six shades of red, immediately pulled his shirt down, and apologized profusely to her!

Like I said, how you handle it depends on the situation! :giggle:

True story, my wife and I went to get new phones at some point during the pandemic. We went to the Walmart on Palmer Park and Powers in Colorado Springs.

I'm not sure why but it was absolutely jam-packed that day. I mean it looked like Black Friday.

So I was standing in the aisle and this woman brushed up against me and I looked at her and I looked down and she had some kind of Ruger sticking out of the pocket of her Spandex (Side note, this woman was not the kind of person that should have been wearing spandex)

Anyway, as I was standing my hand was less than 3 inches away from the butt of that gun I could have had it before she even knew I was there. I didn't say a word

So I'm going to say again to all the folks that think that nobody ever notices them printing. You might want to rethink that.

I live in N. Idaho. We have Constitutional carry here so everyone does. I'm retired LE and I don't personally think open carry is a great idea but like the fact we have that option. I see open carry all the time in the grocery store and have seen it in Walmart. It's no big deal if you get out of your truck and don't put on your jacket when you pump gas, or you see someone "printing" in the local café. We/I just assume everyone is packing heat here. Folks here are very polite and tend to look after each other. This still free America and I love it. ( But we are full so don't move here;))

There's a difference between deliberate open carry and inadvertently exposing your firearm. You get that right?

Funny thing sometimes when I am out to lunch with some old friends we play "spot the concealed carry guy".

Yellow: A relaxed state of awareness.. I am a graduate of Gunsight (September, 1978), and heard this very lecture from Jeff Cooper, in person. Living in Yellow is not difficult, and provides a sense of security that can save your life.

gjgalligan, it's the only mall left around here. It's there or nowhere. But as they say, "Concealed means concealed.";)

So, we're on the third page, and most respondents are saying they would mind their own business.

I would certainly mind my own business unless, as I've said multiple times through the years, I was in some place like Boulder or Denver, where I knew that if the person got caught they would be in trouble.

So I don't think you can safely say that just because nobody's ever commented on your gun printing, it doesn't mean that nobody's ever noticed it.
If I were in a State where it is known to be illegal to open carry, and I saw a guy with an obvious open carry I’d think One.. he’s extremely careless, Two, he’s really stupid, or Three he’s deliberately pushing his luck. There are other reasons and being a nice person to let the guy know he’s “exposing” himself is OK.

The vast majority of people simply won't notice. What would get my attention is if someone is looking intently at peoples' hip area. That is generally considered rude and crass. Pocket junk will cause some sort of bulge, so I use a holster that doesn't shape like a gun.
I don't recall incidents where open carry made someone a 'First Target', but it's a thought and a major a reason I conceal as much as possible.
