My current gas grill has served me well for over 10 years.
Always took care of it and maintained it.
But 10 years of use was all it could take so I had to replace it....
Spent 2 days looking at gas grills....Shazam was I caught off guard...
Grills costing up to $1,900.00 with an average of somewhere around $650.00 without the grill cover....add another $79.00 to $90.00.

Really wanted a Weber gas grill as I have friends who have that brand and they swear by them....
I am retired and widowed so it just me grilling outside for just me and no way was I going to fork out over $599.00.

Finally found a Weber I could live with.....Sprit E-210...2 burner...perfect for just me..but still $399.00 pus $79.00 for the cover.
It is being delivered tomorrow and I hope it comes with grill chef.

Still a nice grill ya got there for sure. Paid $279 for a smaller Charbroil 3 years back. Guess I'm cheap. Hey it works. Yep pirces are nuts.
 
I like the taste of cooking on charcoal..........Be it fish--fowl--or meat.
Understood....but I always had trouble controlling the temp with charcoal grills...and I kinda enjoy slow cooking basted ribs and the gas grills for me maintain the temps better.....but then again I am not a grill master.
 
Always loved a charcoal grill for the flavor it induces. Seldom liked to wait for the coals to be ready and the pain of disposal afterwards. Gas is on, then it's off. But it certainly lacks the flavor of the charcoal grill. I'm ashamed at my laziness at the expense of the flavor.

But I am now a gas griller.......

My grill for the last 12-15 years is a grill bought on clearance at TSC for about $200 bucks. It's a very serviceable grill for the money. I am assimilated.........😔
 
My Webber E210 2 burner has been going strong for 10 years. The only thing I’ve done is replace the heat diffusers / flavor enhancers over the burners. The eventually rusted through but were inexpensive to replace.

I bought it late season from Walmart and paid $179.

My only complaint is hanging the propane tank on the scale inside the base is difficult for an old guy. It’s hard to get your hands in there and lift a full tank onto the hook. Two years ago I seriously pulled my shoulder which took about 6 months to recover from. What I did to solve that is get a regulator and 8 foot line and now have the tank outside the grill. It works great.

I have natural gas on my deck and think I might convert it from propane. Propane is more efficient but having an endless supply of gas on the deck seems like a good idea.
 
A couple of years ago, when my neighbor decided he'd grown enough corn for a lifetime and decided to head to the wilds of Wyoming, he asked me to drive over and take a look at some things he wanted to give away. I brought two things home: a Camp Chef Smoke Vault and a Pit Boss Pro Series pellet/propane BBQ. Stuck 'em on the back patio under the trees. Have an old Weber Kettle on the second-floor deck, just outside the kitchen. I cook 95% of our meat, birds, and game on the Weber Kettle using charcoal, and smoke two turkeys for the holidays in the Smoke Vault. Have yet to use the Pit Boss. Now don't get me wrong, he and his wife hooking us up for free with a couple of grand worth of outdoor cooking appliances was a wonderful gesture, but I'm just a simple kinda guy, used to simple functioning grills.
 
I always look on FB Marketplace for good deals. Sometimes you can find things brand new for half the price.

That said, I have a Weber Kettle - while I like it, it's a pain to clean sometimes.
 
finally replaced my old cheap gas grill (lava rocks) with Weber kettle 2 years ago. Went looking at new gas grills, but not wanting to cook on "flavor bars"

My current apartment doesn't have a balcony so there's no place for us to put up a grill.

There used to be grills in the picnic area for people to grill out but management took them out because homeless people were building bonfires in them.

When I lived downtown my apartment had a balcony and I grilled out in a little hibachi at least two or three times a week.

I did not know this but it is apparently illegal to have a grill on the balcony of an apartment in Colorado Springs it's a fire safety ordinance.

My wife has informed me that charcoal grills produce carcinogens that get all over your food while you're cooking it and I hate the taste of food cooked on a gas grill.

When we lived in the house somebody gave my wife an electric girl and she used that thing two or three times a week until we moved out of the house.

Once we move to The Ohana we're planning on getting another one.

In Forsyth county where I live the fire code is that any grill of any type has to be 10 feet from the house but there is a grill on every deck or patio seating area everywhere and they are not all 10 feet from the houses....so I guess there is a code but nobody enforces it for sure.

I would guarantee that your insurance company would in the event of a fire.😭

In the 20 years I had the $99 Char Broil grill, I replaced the burner once and the "flavor bar" four times.

The box stores wanted $25 for an OE flavor bar, I made my own out of sheet metal for $3.

I finally replaced the grill with a three burner (with a side burner) Char Broil "infrared" series when my Father in Law passed.... it was his and we inherited it.

I can honestly say the $99 grill had more consistent heat across the grilling surface compared to the expensive pos that he had.
 
Check out Craig's List for used Weber grills.

Also, Weber gas grills are very easy ro repair, and new parts are easy to get. I have a Genesis 1000 from 1998 that I am still using. I have always kept it covered. Still, I have replaced most of the parts at least once.
 
Have an old cast aluminum body Weber gas grill from over 20 years ago. Packed up in storage but hope to move soon and break it out.

I purchased my cast aluminum Charbroil grill when I returned to the States 20 years ago, in June 2005. I’ve replaced rusted-out burners and drip shields more than once, but the aluminum body (and the cast iron grill sections) are still going strong.

I haven’t seen any grills with similar construction in quite some time. I assume because manufacturers realized they were lasting too long.
