I had a "date" for myself today, and treated myself to a concert by Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives over at the American Music Theater in Lancaster, PA. I have been watching the reruns of their TV show on RFD-TV and when I saw they were coming to Lancaster I jumped at the chance. They really rocked the joint with classic country, old rock and roll surfing instrumentals, and country rock for an hour and a half straight. Each of the Superlatives was showcased, particularly with their version of "Wipe Out" by the Surfaris, where the stand up bass player did the guitar licks and the drummer did the traditional drum solo by hitting his cheeks with his mouth open. The biggest crowd reaction was probably when they played "Six Days on the Road" by Dave Dudley (the truck drivers national anthem) according to Marty Stuart) and "El Paso" by Marty Robbins (Marty Stuart said he was named after Marty Robbins). It was a great show and I'm glad I decided to let the moths fly out of my wallet and buy a ticket to the show.

And to finish the event for the day I had supper at the Round-the-Clock Diner in York, PA.

And now I already have my ticket for the upcoming Herman's Hermits concert there. I was an oldies disk jockey 50 years ago in my misspent youth.

My wife and I are fans!
We got to meet him when he played outside Pittsburgh and afterwards had a meet and greet, a great guy.
He took my little girl up on stage and danced with her.
Sadly we didn’t get it on film.
What a talent and a nice guy.

Good for you! I will look them up. I like concerts, and have been to American Music Theatre. The last concert I went to was in my small hometown theater a year ago. We saw toe 1964 tribute band. A Beatles tribute band, and they were fabulous, playing Beatles music to the note. The sound and the look was perfect.

I highly recommend looking their tour schedule up

Actually they will be in York, PA the 18th of April. Also Gettysburg College August 9th. You can walk there:D

Fan of Marty Stuart for many years, Have tickets for a concert next month. His knowledge of country music and music in general is amazing. The Ken Burns documentary of country music several years ago showcases a lot of it.

Wow....my wife and I would love to see that!
I'm currently watching Billy Joel's Madison square garden show on CBS.

When I saw the header I thought this thread was going to be about the Billy Joel show, which I thought was okay but a bit overdone. I liked him better back in the day as a solo performer. I liked him okay at the time, but wasn’t wild about him. It was a little jarring to see all the fifty- somethings last night dancing arrhythmically in the aisles. My boy, who is 46, likes him a lot more than I ever did.

About 20 or 25 years ago I saw Marty Stuart live in Minneapolis. I didn’t know much about him but was impressed with the show.

Herman's Hermits still around? Do they look like Hermits? I saw them at City Auditorium in New Orleans back in the 60's....over 60 years ago. It was the first concert I ever went to. The best part of it was when guys were charging the stage and the cops getting in some batting practice by knocking them off the stage with night sticks. I'm guessing they won't have that problem now. "Stage, what stage!"
