is there a common wrist timer used by competitors on longer strings. I want to be able to view with an economy of motion.

I want to maximize my time and dont want to buy three or four timers to get it right.

I have to be careful with watches, because for some reason they irritate my skin. (ok either sensitve skin or corrosive) So I have to buy titanium which are expensive.

My recent dressy type titanium STOPPED working so I dont have a watch right now.

I would like to buy an iron man or gshock but the plastic bands will irritate, the leather will irritate and since I am "ruff" on stuff, I cant see spending much on a watch that I will likely destroy and be out some bucks.

I can wear nylon cord and try an attach a timer to that.

what do you all use?

I USE A 10 DOLLAR DIGITAL WATCH FROM WALMART. IT HAS A NYLON WEB BAND ( SO IT BREATHS)WITH LARGE DIGITAL DISPLAY. I BOUGHT IT AT THE JACKSON WALMART SEVERAL YEARS AGO WHEN MY CASIO BROKE. IT HAS THE BUTTONS PROTECTED BY SHOULDERS NEXT TO THEM. EVERYBODY HAD A FEW LAUGHS CAUSE IT WAS QUITE LARGE. BUT ON THE SIDE THEY WERE ASKING ME WHERE I GOT IT. AND THEY WERE SOLD OUT THAT NEXT EVENING. NOW I WEAR IT WITH THE FACE ON THE INSIDE OF THE WRIST SO I DON'T HAVE TO WASTE TIME TURNING OVER MY WRIST TO LOOK AT IT. I JUST LOOK WHILE I'M RELOADING. JP

NOW IT DOESN'T HAVE A COUNTDOWN TIMER. BUT IT'S EASY TO USE.
COME OUT OF SITTING AT 50-55SEC
COME OUT OF PRONE AT 1MIN 25-30 SEC
COME OFF LEFT BARR AT 2 MIN 5-10SEC
FINISH UP RIGHT HAND WITH LESS THAN 5 LEFT

MATCH 4 FINISH RELOADING AT 18-20 SEC

CED7000 Timer

I use a CED timer. I have mine on the retractable lanyard hooked to my pocket, it does have an optional wrist strap.
The timer starts at a fixed or random beep and times each shot by sound.

I use a PACT timer, which comes with a nice steel clip to put it on your pocket.
Made in Texas, by the way.

If you are looking for a timer then buy the small pact one brownells has them usually at LE price. They work great for practice let you know how much time you use, have left in each phase etc, great for getting your timing down for match 1 or speed six ,when you really dont have time to look at a watch. As far as watches go,Ive gone through everything from the kitchen timer velcrod onto a wristband to these big round timers from Big-5 that were the rage 10-12 years ago,now its just a timex ironman or similar ,worn on the inside, off hand ,above my wristband( so it doesnt get in the way when I wrap my knee in seated and I dont accidently hit the buttons when Im bending my wrist around.also protects it from the sun,in CA and TX the sun can make the face go black on some led types, that was the big problem with the Big -5 watch.PPC shooter had it right on ,is that you MARK,your timing will depend on which position you have the most problem with. We still have guys that will not go to a watch, years ago a shooter named Sam Yarosh,SS Pistol team, told me going to the line without a watch was like going to the table without a fork,he is right. Go cheap at first! Good luck, Bob

I just use the stopwatch function on my Casio digital. But it seems to be more ritual for me now as I actually seldom look at my time, except when I'm going to right hand at 25 and 50. I know I take 55 seconds to 1 minute for sitting and come out of the prone at the 1:35 to 1:40 mark. I typically hit right hand with ~30 seconds left.
