Hey there,

My factory letter has arrived today but I'm a little concerned about a mistake on the last digit of the serial number, and that Roy calls me Mr Branton as well (I'm not).

I'm wondering if it's just a typo mistake

Thanks

Send the letter back with a note pointing out that neither the serial number nor your name are correct. Expect someone stuck the wrong letter in your envelope or there was some finger trouble on the computer.

Not all that unusual really. I've received two (2) S&W letters that had errors on them. I simply wrote them a letter, pointed out the eroor and asked for a correction.

I'm still waiting on one (1) to be returned with corrections but my letter only went out at the beginning of May. Be Patient.

Doug

Thank you.

Doug, did you send them back the letters or did you just write them a letter ?

Yes I have to be patient, he wrote it on March, 27 and it has arrived only today

Thanks :)

Copy the letter and highlight the error(s). Send a note outlining the errors and detail the corrections. Most letters are boilerplate and changes are made to the name, serial number and ship date. Roy will correct any errors brought to his attention.

Thank you.

I wrote them a letter but I included:

Original letter request
Copy of their letter with error high lighted
Photo's of revolver, pointing out the errors.

Thanks y'all,

I finally sent an email to the Historical Foundation with a pic of the Factory Letter I received with mistakes highlighted and one of the pic that I provided with the request form sent on February on which we can see clearly the serial number.

I was sure I kept a copy of my request form but I can't find it :(

Maybe it won't change anything about where it was shipped and the date it was, but I know sometimes they didn't shipped guns in the serial number order.

I hope I will get an answer soon.

My understanding is that Roy uses a computer template for the letters. The basic model information and production numbers never change. As each request is received, Roy changes the pertinent information about the owner and the specific gun to produce the new letter.

Unfortunately, between interrupting phone calls, emails and possibly eating or using the bathroom, he occasionally leaves his computer to return at a later time. Sometimes these lapses cause a mistake to be made or a serial number to be left from the last letter and your letter arrives with an error.

All that is necessary is to return the letter pointing out the error and Roy will promptly correct any mistake and return the letter at no charge.

Having sat in Roy's home office while doing research on my .22/32 HFT database I personally witnessed Roy working at his desk. During one phone call Roy advised the caller that the number that he was quoting was actually the assembly number and that he would need to remove the stocks to see the actual serial number. The caller told Roy to hold on while he retrieved a screw driver. Instead of calling back, Roy was forced to hold for over 5 minutes while the caller got the tool and removed the stocks. It is no wonder that these interruptions can cause occasional letter errors. In his desire to respond to as many folks as possible, once and a while a mistake is going to happen.

Sure, I don't blame Mr Roy Jinks, I understand perfectly, we all make mistakes.

Hey guys,

I just wanted to say I received my new factory letter today without any mistakes.
It was only typo mistakes.
I didn't expect to receive it so fast !

Thank you for your help and thank you especially to the members of the Historical Foundation who helped me and Roy Jinks.

I appreciate.

Exactly, Southern Eastern France :D
That being said, I talked with my friend who lives in Texas for a while, that helps a little. :D
Thank you
