This S&W Forum member wishes to buy one or more Smith & Wesson 3914 semi-automatic handguns manufactured in the neighborhood of 1990-to-1995.
Preferred are NIB (New, In-the-Box) and "LNIB" (Like-New, In-the-Box). A 3914 that has been fired a maximum of one time (at the factory) is "NIB." A 3914 fired more than once may possibly be, but is not assuredly LNIB. Box, paperwork, extra magazine and tools within the box are considered part of the deal and thus more likely to push prices proportionately higher.
All other 3914's will be considered, although be aware that recently manufactured NIB and LNIB New York Police Department handguns aren't as desirable to this collector as those from the '90-'95 period. And, no, S&W models 908, 910 and etc., aren't "the same gun."
The Blue Book of Gun Values, online version, will be consulted to provide baseline pricing.
Particulars of the 3914 and its variations follow.
Model 3914
The basic Model 3914 is: 9mm Luger Parabellum; Blued; Double/Single action (DA/SA); Aluminum-alloy frame; 3 1/2 in. barrel; Bobbed hammer; 8-shot, finger-extension magazines; Fixed sights; Ambidextrous safety; Straight backstrap grip; Weigh 25 oz. without cartridges.
Model 3914 Lady Smith
Similar to Model 3914, but instead have: A right-side slide, S&W-factory imprinted "Lady Smith"; and, Wrap-around Delrin grips.
Model 3914 TSW
Similar to Model 3914, but has an added left-side slide imprint stating "9 Tactical".
Considerations In Response
Should someone wish to propose his 3914, in the reply:
State Your Price. Inclusive of shipping charges, please.
Include Images. Inasmuch as "my 99-percent" differs from nearly everyone else's "99-percent," photographs should accompany an "I've got one!" reply. They should at minimum be of: muzzle; left slide; right slide; underside, from magazine well through trigger and to muzzle; left grip; right grip; backstrap and hammer areas, as well as its S&W box, materials and original end tags with model and build information.
Please make the images large enough (megapixels) so that the images can be "zoomed." Should you truly be interested in selling your 3914, after giving me a time-limited right of refusal (say, "24 hours") you might wish to consider putting up a separate WTS (Want To Sell) advertisement within our S&W Forum and, secondly, if not already a member at the Bronze-or-higher level, join at that level or higher so as to have space on which to store your pictures and then brag about your 3914 (and other S&W guns). After all, the work you put in on the images is going to be intensive and this potential buyer doesn't guarantee he'll buy anything at all offered by anyone, however much you might contend the offered 3914 is it's "NIB" and "perfect." You might as well get something out of the deal.
Got Good Gun? Be aware that this transaction will involve FFL holders at both ends of the deal. The seller, if not himself an FFL, will ship the gun using an FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee) to my FFL, (Florida Gun Exchange). Using FFLs ensure at least two aspects: the gun is "legal," e.g., it's not "hot," and, the receiving FFL will act as an escrow agent of sorts, seeing that the gun is properly handled and, should the deal not consummate for whatever reason, then make sure the gun is properly returned.
Inspection. State an allowable time period, if any, that the buyer (that would be yours truly) may inspect, but not shoot, the 3914.
Airports Are Important, too. Why? If your 3914 is good enough in looks and price, I've been known to fly. A lot, in fact. Nearly every week, to somewhere. I have points. Lots of points. I can fly to you, too.
Additional questions or concerns? Include them in your response.
Thank you very much for reading this! It alone is intense enough!
