Good morning.

I have a question if any member here saw of have kind of WW2 (possibly rigger made) NAVY pilot .38 S&W ammo pouches?

Navy pilots used them to carry ammo for his S&W. Of course ammo loops added to shoulder holster were very popular but not always...

Love to see some more examples... here are photos for reference. Still looking for one example for my collection.

Regards,
JK

The example pictured was originally made to hold six rounds in the center, and someone added the extra loops to hold more.

My impression is this type of carrier was mostly used by shore patrol or gate guards, and as you noted aviation personnel would have extra loops sewn onto the shoulder holster straps. I can’t recall seeing WW II Naval aviators using one of these.

I bought one about 10-15 years ago but haven’t looked for one recently.

Hi.

Both examples were used by naval aviators. They used all kinds of ammo rigger-made carriers. Here are examples of them (two rigger made pouches and one issued pouch mentioned above). I'm looking for specific carriers. Ammo loops sewn to the shoulder holster straps were the most popular.

Cheers,
Jerry

The ones I saw in use were police type double pouches with snaps at the top and bottom.

Not meaning to drift your thread, but I picked up a like-new dump pouch from a junk box at the LGS and said to the owner "5 bucks?". He said yes.
