Ok my local dealer has a Wyatt deep cover, did a little research because I didn't know anything about them. He's asking $485 new is this ballpark of where it should be? What's your guys opinions of these guns? What would be a fair price? Would it make a good carry gun? I like the bobbed hammer look over a hammer less. What about the belt grip is this a smith part or aftermarket? How are they carried only for right handed shooters? Wasn't sure how good that'd work and if it would be weird in a regular holster. Are the gun smoke people actually building these guns(not that it impresses me). Lots of questions but thanks in advance.

The price is fine -- well below MSRP and ballpark to what you'd find other places.

Except for the garish "Gunsmoke" label, the 637 WDC gets good reviews from members here who use it, some of whom are exceptionally well-versed "J-hounds" (you know who you are out there).

The biggest praise goes to the PC-tuned trigger -- it's a cut above stock.

Minus the gimmick (to me) grips and in a real holster, I think it makes a fine carry piece with a speedloader or strip in the pocket.

S&W builds all the revolvers sold under its banner.

What do you think I should offer? Any idea what dealer cost is? I'm still learning about gun trading and values based both on new and used guns. I'd love to buy the gun and shoot it some and of I don't like it trade it off without taking to bad a beating.

Hapworth says it all, despite the 638 typo. The Wyatt is a 637 variant. I consider it one of the slickest carry guns out there. There are 642 fans who disagree and they are NOT wrong! FYI, there is a Wyatt in my pocket as I type this.

There are several recent threads on this gun to which Hapworth, I, and many knowledgeable J-hounds have contributed. A search will turn them up. I have 2 Wyatts. I would have a problem if my LGS would have several in his display case...

P.S. I also own and carry 642's. Js are expensive in my neighborhood. $485 is a normal price out here.

They are stainless right? So the wear factor should be minimal and it shouldnt turn or rust right? Cylinder is stainless also? Just found the videos on YouTube the action seems pretty snappy and smooth.

In my experience, you will not likely find this gun any cheaper than you mention here. That's well below MRSP, and because this is a somewhat limited edition, they normally are not sold at much of a discount. It sure would not hurt to make the guy an offer for a bit less to see what he says. He just might take your offer if it's not too much less, but if he does not, and if you want the gun, I'd say get it. You won't likely often find another, and for sure not for any less money. It's a good gun, even if I could do without the logos on the frame exterior.

The cheap plastic belt grip is ****. Get an appendix carry or pocket holster. The new Crimson Trace LG 305G laser grip looks good (well designed).
