No it’s not worth double the cost, it’s worth TRIPLE the cost.
Sorry not a Taurus fan.

Just a nice old set of factory combatsColt_Saa, I LOVE the wood grips on your trr8, and that is pretty much what I am wanting to do with one if I ever order one.
<snip>The biggest advantage S&W has over a Taurus is quality!
A choice between smith and taurus is no choice at all. The R8 rocks, grab that one.
Jim NNN, maybe if you'd have filled in at least some of your profile(or at least tell us something about yourself) I'd know where you're coming from but, your strong opinion of the two guns in question leads me to question what your motives are? Just what IS your back ground? As the OP asked do you have any experiences (or own)with either?
Steve
Yeah, whenever I'm trying to decide between a Taurus and some other gun, I think to myself, "which one is not made by Taurus?" And that's the one I buy.
This thread got me to realize that these 8-shot guns are N-frames, which I never carry concealed. S&W describes them as large frame (=N). If I carried a gun that big, it would be 6-7 rounds of a larger caliber, probably 44 Special.
I do hope the OP enjoys this awesome gift. I just wonder what a civilian does with a tactical rail gun in .357 that is too big to carry concealed and too loud to shoot indoors, if necessary. Would love to shoot it though. I just read these threads and naturally try to relate to some of the choices. The 327 would have suited me better. Hopefully, sharing what I am selfishly thinking doesn't offend anyone.
Well lots of guys use them for shooting ICORE matches I use mine for target shooting and I can open carry it if I desire. Do you also wonder what civilians do with railed AR15's?
