I have a 3" HB 36 with a yellow ramp, but I suspect it is aftermarket, I don't think I've ever seen a factory colored ramp on a fixed sight gun. Back in the 70's a friend went to the S&W Armorers School and brought his departmental model 15 along. He had a yellow ramp installed on it at the factory. Outside of that, I have never seen a factory yellow ramp.

I have installed them in place of the red ones they work great. Brownells sells a kit works well and is easy to use. Not sure if Smith ever used them.

I believe???? they were a factory option, but I been wrong before.

The NIS Model 19s had yellow ramps.

I'm pretty sure that S&W offered a few colors (but am having trouble finding something to back it up).

An FBI friend had one of the Naval Investigative Service hand me down FBI issue, four inch, round butt, Model 19s with the yellow front sight insert back in the 70s and 80s. They were issued to FBI swat team members back then. Unfortunately he had to turn it in to the armory when he retired where it was made into pencil holders and paperweights by the armory.

I liked the yellow insert much better than the red insert on my Model 19. The Shooter's Bibles of those years listed the yellow insert as an option on the Smith revolvers. As mentioned above, several companies sell insert kits in various colors.

Iggy is correct.

I have a pair of M-29-2's that had FACTORY installed yellow insert frt sight ramps as a special option. A factory letter from Mr Jinks verified that they were factory.

I used to have yellow inserts installed in My revolvers.

Still have a few guns with yellow up front, and imo, that's the best insert color.

I'd like to see/try a yellow ramp. I can't see the plain SS sights on my 66 worth a flip and am red/green color blind. Yellow always has been my favorite color.
