Some of our aircraft DO look a lot like a bus.

My daughter is in the Air Guard,services.My Son-In-Law active Air Force EOD and getting ready to deploy 2nd time to Afghanistan real soon.Keep him in your prayers please. I can't imagine the crazy questions he might get.

I didn't golf. I was a "sky cop", and I gave tickets to speeding pilots, if I could catch their aircraft.
And we learned not to point radar guns at fighter aircraft.

I was in the Air Force and flew on airplanes, but as a Navigator, Weapon System Officer, and Battle Staff. I had a lot of flying hours, including combat time, but I never flew an airplane without a pilot.
I also served with the Army as an Air Liaison Officer. On one memorable occassion, I served on a Navy ship (USS Mt. Whitney) where I was the only Air Force officer on an Army Division staff assigned as part of NATO Strike Force/US 2nd Fleet; if that wasn't a confusing chain of command.

I was a communicator in the air force and got asked the pilot question when someone learned I was in the air force. I flew on a MAC once from Italy to JFK. I sure wish I could have hitched a ride on a fighter just once though.

I worked with a guy who joined the Air Force and worked about 50 feet underground at a missile silo.
A buddy of mine in high school joined the Air Force wanting to get into missile guidance systems - and spent more time shooting pool and drinking than anything else (based on the stories he told).
A cousin of mine was on a carrier and travelled the world.
Another cousin of mine was in the Marines - got out in part to help his parents recover from a major auto accident - and then joined the Army and is currently a medic somewhere in the Middle East.
Another cousin of mine spent so much time on KP that she never complained about washing dishes at home.

Ahh, the C-124 Globemaster. Always wondered how in the heck that thing got off the ground and flew. It was a workhorse though.

I was in before the advent of "radar guns" came into use. I always paced them using my patrol vehicle. It was a little difficult though when I was driving the Ford Falcon? pickup truck on patrol.
I was always getting yelled at to stay off the runways.

I believe he would of loved to have been.
My father along with 2 other guys had a small island
all to themselves for the better part of a year off shore
of the fighting where they operated a barge crane &
other heavy equipment to pick up the wounded &
shot up aircraft that could make it back to its sandy
beaches & pancake in for help.
Just one of many many efforts behind the scenes
which led to all the fly-boys glory*

And yet dwarfed by the C-17 and C-5 (which you can literally drive a bus through)
I had the chance to watch a Beluga unload once. That's one ugly yet interesting plane.

OK, let's keep the definitions of ships, boats, tugs, etc out of the picture. The fact is, the US Army has more waterborne vessels then the US Navy.

I never thought all Air Force guys were pilots, thought they were all golfers......
Never met an Air Force person who didn't know how to golf.... and well....
Well, you met one now. I tried golf and I hated it. I was in the Air Force for 20 years and I constantly get asked if I flew jets. I was a dentist but I tell people I was a Chairborne Ranger. You should see the looks I get. Also, when I tell them I was a dentist, I get "Oh-----that's nice".
