Yet another "I love my 6906" thread

What is the difference between my 669 and the 6906?
They look almost the same. The only differences I see so far are the rear sight and the stocks. Any other differences? I also just noticed that the trigger guard on mine is squared off with a checkered face - Why the checkering? I have no clue.
Because I love my 669 - does it qualify here?

Looks good to me! I'm pretty new to the S&W pistols...the only difference I can see in some of them is the model number.

The 6906 will fit in the same holsters as the 5906 as long as the trigger guard styles are the same. I carried a 6906 from '92 until 2005 and never bought a holster for it, used my 5906 holsters. I shelved the 5906 after I bought the 6906.

Someone mentioned the triggers of the 6906, Col. Jeff Cooper used to call them Krunchentickers or something like that. All DA/SA triggers are pretty much the same. Some people have no problem with them, some do. I always did well with it, until I bought a Glock and my Krunchenticker skills diminished. Still a good pistol.

I've found that a 6906 (or others) with a round trigger guard will fit holsters made for guns with a square trigger guard, but not the opposite. Holsters for the square ones seem to be tough to come by.

Why the checkering? I have no clue.

Some shooters like to place their weak hand index finger on the trigger guard as a stabilizing ploy in conjunction with a "Weaver" hold. This practice has been losing favor with most shooters over the past decade or so.
