There have been several threads recently about the Ruger Security Six revolvers. I'm like these guns a lot and own 2.75" and 4" versions. But I've always wanted a 6" just to kinda complete the set.
Just on a whim, I posted a WTB ad on my local state gun forum. I've actually done this before with no results, but I thought I'd give it another shot.
Lo and Behold! This time it paid off. :D Local guy offered me a 1980 Stainless gun at a very fair price. It shows some use, but is mechanically sound. For $450 I ain't complaining. :D

Metal looks very nice, the grips would be an easy refinish. I like the platform; I have a Speed, a Service, and a Security. Angling for a four inch Speed.

Nice score. You go the “Big Grip” as Ruger called them.
Shop Ruger was clearing those out for $10/set. Now people are asking $80- $100.

You did VERY well. The Security Six seems to have no "cachet" but is greatly underappreciated IMHO.

One time when ya wish a Way Back machine could be available for a couple days!

OP, that’s a very great looking gun! We, my grandson and I, were out at the range today and I shot my new to me Security Six, 1976 vintage revolver today. I have a couple pictures of it here somewhere. When Keegan shot it he was loading 357 Mags in it by mistake (I was watching). Kinda funny since he blew through a couple cylinders in the 4” SS. This was a 6” barrel and he was a little confused for a second or two. I said shoot them out and we’ll check it out. He was almost ecstatic when he found out he was shooting “the powerful cartridge and it didn’t even hurt!” He got cocky and shot the 45 1911. That’s easy! We’re learning!
Sorry to ramble, but we’re bonding over revolvers.
There are a few Six series posts here lately and nary a bad review.
