Are the yoke/cranes for these two Smiths exactly the same?

We needed a new one for our 63-3.
The one that was sent does not fit.

The only ones Numrich has in stock are for the 34 series and they are not sure if it is exactly the same.

Pic of the 63-3 that needs to be replaced and the one sent in error.

Any assistance is appreciated.
Thx

The ones pictured are not the same. The yoke pictured on the bottom is not for the 34 or the model 63. It's yoke barrel diameter is .290". It's an unfinished yoke for a standard j-frame, like the model 36 for instance.

The outside diameter of the yoke barrel for the model 63-3 will measure .370".

The correct yoke for your 63-3 will have the new yoke revision stem, and will use the larger spring loaded yoke screw. If you look closely at the end of the yoke stem, you can easily tell the difference.

What is the problem with your original yoke? Is it unrepairable?

Lucked out and Smith answered the phone right quick.

The yoke/crane for the 63-3 and 34 are the same according to Smith.

They will not send one, only for in house work, but Numrich has a new one on the way.

The original one needs to be replaced.

Pic below of the one Numrich is sending.
If it fits, and Smith was correct, I can make/adapt a yoke screw that will work.

Numrich has been advised as to the confusion on their website.

There's a fracture where the yoke barrel meets the rest of the yoke.
Found it when viewed under magnification last week.
The part that slides into the cylinder.
Even with a new yoke/crane I'll only have a bit over $300 into the project.
Gun cleaned up well.
New firing pin and spring, fresh plate screws and lotsa cleaning.

Will go over all details shortly.
Fun project that I was aware of the challenges when purchased.... but it did fire six rounds at the LGS/Range that day.
Not like the Colt Plus II surprise nonsense not long ago.... in the feedback section.

Thx all,

Everyone should have a Pinto or two. :D

Blued yoke/crane.
Higher front sight overlay, for co-witness, will be blued with brass or gold bead.
Black laminated stocks.
Rear sight made to fit between mounting holes of the Trijicon RMR 3.25.
RMR mount blued.
Black holster.

Will almost match her newest Panda.

Fun project.
Just want to get the gun working now and the rest for the future.

We're not yet fluent in Spanish and Italian so we are the
G R I N G O grandparents.
They carry nine millimeter Smiths.
Sad but true. :D
