I have a 68-2, LAPD (neutered) gun. The cylinder and forcing cone are .38SPL length, frame is the 'standard' size.

A friend of mine (yes, I actually have friends
) has a Connecticut SP commemorative 66-2. When he took the tray out of the wooden box, he found an obit for the officer to whom the gun was issued.

I have a Model 66, 4" barrel, U.S. Border Patrol. Sorry picture not available at this time. Cool things is that 3138 were issued in 1976. Mine is s/n USBP1976.

Just one right now, a Model 25-3 125th Anniversary gun, 61/2 inch .45 Colt. I bought it new November, 1977.
I had a Model 544 Texas Wagon Train (5 inch .44-40 Winchester) but sold it a couple three years ago.
Someday I would like a Texas Ranger Model 19.

A S&W Model 10-8 Silver Anniversary Correctional Peace Officers of California. 3" barrel, square butt, fixed sight.
Springfield 45 ACP of my agency, 150th sesquitennial anniversary.
The Springfield is my only safe queen.

I have two Model 66's done for the Montana Highway Patrol in 1979. They have the Patrol patch on the side and a barrel inscription "1935-1979, 44 years of service". Smooth targets were also the grips used. Nice looking guns, sorry no picture capability.

I have this 544.
This isn't an S&W commemorative-but this Ruger Security-Six Commemorative sleeps with my Smith's in my safe. It is one of only 99 which were made for the Iowa State Sherriff's and Deputies Association. This represented one for each of the 99 Counties in Iowa. Only one extra gun was ordered as a spare:
I started out with a M544 Texas Wagon Train Commemorative in .44-40 because it is on the BATFE C&R list, and I had just obtained my C&R FFL.
I liked the 5" barrel N-Frame so much, I bought number two and had an aux. second cylinder fitted to it for shooting .44 Special.
The grips on #1 are a vintage set of factory Birdseye Maple I lucked into years ago... those will go to the grave with me.
A 586 BART PD Commemorative was next.
And lastly, the same M68-2 CHP Commemorative the OP has, with the great looking presentation case:
That M68-2 will probably be my last foray with commemoratives, unless something comes along really, really, really floats my boat.

My boy and I just found a Chicago Police Department commemorative model 66 no box and It's been fired. $600.00 . I'm thinking about getting it.

A few years ago a retired FBI agent friend mentioned he had a new five inch Model 27 he wanted to sell. My wife bought it from him for my Christmas present that year. It turned out to be one of the FBI commemorative guns sold only to agents. It was still in the original shipping box with all accessories. I had two of the S&W 125th anniversary guns but I passed them on to my sons a few years back. I prefer semi-collectible gun with a few miles on them so I can shoot them.

Model 66-1 Montana Highway patrol Comm. Issued in 1979 with 213 total production. MHP Seal on frame, and "1935-1979 44 Years of Service" roll engraved on barrel. Guns came in the std 2 piece blue box with a neat Comm belt buckle.
WHY they did a 44 year Comm is a mystery. Forty four yrs...an odd number for a commemorative.
