Seems like every few months I have a thread about pie. Lets be clear: I like pie.
Last week I had a speaking engagement in a small town. (Yes, the one where I got a ticket because Missus Fan made me late).I told the person that called me I would require pie. It was a luncheon, and there was a piece of pie by my plate. I later found out I was the only person there who got one. Probably because I was the only one who asked for one.:D
Somebody at this meeting called a lady who works at a library in another small town. They told her I am an interesting speaker. She emailed me and asked if I would speak, and what my fees are. I said I would be glad to, but that my fees are non negotiable: I will require pie. She wanted to know what kind and I told her my two favorites are gooseberry and sweet potato, but good old apple will do fine.
Done deal.
The Bible tells us we have not because we ask not.
Always ask.:D

Ask a ye shall receive! My wife and I frequent one restaurant because they have chocolate pecan pie. Right now,... I have Key lime pie on my mind.

Cherry Pie (My all-time favorite)
Rhubarb Pie (the way my dear departed Grandmother used to make it)
Blackberry Pie (I pick the berries out behind the house)
Black Raspberry Pie (I pick the berries out in front of the house)
Pear Pie (don't knock it till you try it)
Peach Pie (and I am no relation to Clyde Barrow! )

My Most absolute pie is Cherry! y wife's family recipes all call for montmerancy (sp) as her grandmother had that kind of tree in the back yard. I planted a couple of them and they did fine until I bought a dozen assorted cherry trees from Meijer. They had a blight that killed all 7 of my existing cherry trees. :(

There is no second place, but around 4th is a tie for apple and bland pumpkin both with a large mound of real whipped cream!

My wife makes her dad Raisin and Grape pies for his birthday. Our youngest son is a blackberry pie slave! Ivan

My favorite is pecan. Pronounced pee-con, not pee-can. A pee can is something you pee in, not a nut!

A friend of my wife & I just stopped by a few minutes ago with a hot out the oven coconut pie!:):):)

1. French Apple Pie
2. Apple Pie
3. Cherry Pie
4. Coconut Cream Pie
5. Shoo Fly Pie

That's my dessert lineup! ;)

Mmmmm PIE My favorites are
Black Berry
Black Raspberry
Warm Dutch Apple with a thick slice of extra sharp cheddar cheese
Deep dish Peach
Although I've never been known to ever turn down a piece of any kind of pie!!

I miss pie. I really miss pie. For me it's the toughest part of sticking to low carb eating habits. I only allow it at Christmas. Then it's all the pumpkin and pecan I can eat.
What I miss the most is my mother's Lemon Meringue. An Arizona early spring Sunday supper. Buttermilk fried chicken, sliced tomatoes from the back garden, biscuits, big icy glasses of iced tea and Lemon Meringue pie from lemons off our trees and eggs from our hens. I'm a fair baker, but try as I might I could never duplicate my mother's pies.

Pie are round. Cake are square. :D

Grandma Fogarty used to make me an apple pie for my birthday every year. My dad made the world's best lemon meringue pie. Grandma Brewer made fantastic blackberry cobbler from the blackberries behind the garden.

They are all gone from this Earth now, but I'm hopin' like crazy there's desert in heaven!

It tell people if they make me pie I'll be their slave.
My late Father and I didn't always agree on everything but he had a stern rule on pie I totally agree with: No pie should EVER be cut in more than six pieces.:D
My Mother-in-law doesn't subscribe to that one.

I make a lime chess pie--one of my experiments that worked beautifully the first try--that carries a Surgeon General's label warning of addiction risk. Fiendishly rich, but lovely.

But if, perish the hideous thought, I could only have one kind of pie before I croak it would be peach, made with old-time Georgia Elberta peaches, with crust made with lard.

Haven't had one like that in about sixty years, but I remember...

I don't know what a lime chess pie is but I remember gramma's peach pie with the crust made with lard.

Never will be able to outdo momma.

having read this I just had the thought that if I was looking for the menu of a last meal, this'n would do. I would've loved to park my feet under your momma's table. As my ole Daddy used to say,"it'll eat right where you hold it" Dang, I'll lay awake tonight thinking about that.
Enjoy

Just wondering...

I've had many pies that were baked in a cast iron skillet...
is this a "Southern Thing"?
Mom and Grandmother both used them, they said it made pies much better...

Pie I love all pie, pie must have a bottom crust, if not it is cobbler. Cobbler is not pie, cobbler is best warm with ice cream. Pie is best warm with ice cream, unless it is apple then warm with sharp cheddar cheese. All time best pie is a fried pie.

Don't like that meat and mashed potatoes pie.
