You missed a good Python.....

I don't think I have much more than that in ALL of these total!

Fat Tom,
Unbelieveable line-up of Pythons. I collect Smiths but would
love to have a nice Python "Just Because". All of the iconic
movies and TV series of yesterday i watched like, "The Getaway" with Steve McQueen-Ali Mcgraw. Starsky and Hutch.
Just makes any revolver "nut" want at least one.
Very Nice collection sir.
As for the one on gunbroker: ????????????????
Looks like a couple guys got into a pissin' match.

Hey Fat Tom, do you like Pythons?;)

I have a late model stainless that I paid $1K for in 2003, I think it was. Six inch bbl. Python Elite from when they moved all the Pythons to the custom shop.

Almost bought a first year 4" (1962 or 3, if memory serves), very high condition a couple of years ago. Guy wanted about $2000 and I wouldn't go over $1700. He made the right decision as he soon sold it to someone else.

Fat Tom,
Unbelieveable line-up of Pythons.

Chuck

Thanks Chuck, but if you look closely, you will see that about half of them are Diamondbacks. It was just easier to post a group pic rather than individual ones, but the comment about total investment in all of them stands. :o

If you are a Python collector and you need a 1st year gun to complete your collection, what is it worth to you? there are only around 300 guns made if 55.
So you pay big for one but you had bought 5 others way below value, I have justified that kind of purchase more than once in the past.:D
A couple years ago I sold a 1960's snub nose Python with box and Ivory on GB for just under 4K with a penny auction. its amazing what some bidders will bite on.

I own several pythons I bought 25 to 40 years ago--- cheap. About 6 months ago I seen a 6" blue in a store in a town near me off the beaten track. The gun looked brand new but probley no box. It was there quite awhile and I belive it had $1,200s on it. I also am on the colt site and mentioned there and/or here. One guy e-mailed me for the particulars and I gave them. Yet the gun was there at least another month or two! Why do we bother? I looked that gun over closely and it was excellent. I dont need anonther, also am on a budget retired, still should have bought it to roll over!

This would be my only python: :D

Thirty or so years ago I picked up a Dan Wesson .357, the Python was a little more $$ and I was a poor college kid at the time. Still have the Dan Wesson though, not a bad gun at all....

I guess I don't feel so bad about paying just under $1K for mine then:

It came with the rubber grip but Altamont fixed that for me. I'm waiting for Ditrina to show off those amazing snub Pythons of his.

I have a couple of those too. The nickle thanks to allen frame. I bought a new one in .357 and carried it many years on my job and stupidly sold it. The blue one is a 22lr. They are just like the python mechanicly but lighter to pack as no rib or ejector rod houseing.

Here's my one and only (box and documents also). I wish I had never sold the 4" and 6" blued models I had at one time!

My brother has a 6" Python from the 70s....I love the look but really like the 4"ers better for shooting...Always found the 6 way too muzzle heavy.

Fat Tom,
There was a thread about retirement Money the other day in the Lounge. Now I know your plan:D

Along these same lines:
Went to my LGS last saturday to pick up my mdl 36 and a 27-2 being shipped to me. The owner said he has a guy who comes in every friday and buys a gun. He said, it's his "Retirement" plan.
52 guns a year... I could only wish..... Maybe because i have
expensive tastes in weaponry.
