For a number of days, we have been awaitting the sentencing for this guy who shot a school bus driver after a very minor collision on the freeway:

St. Paul man gets 7 years for shooting school bus driver after I-35W crash – Twin Cities

Reading to the end of the story, I was astonished to find that the shooter was the same guy who, a few years ago, shot an armed robber in self defense.

St. Paul victim fatally shoots armed robber, 16, police say – Twin Cities

The connection apparently made the papers after the school bus shooting, but I guess I missed it at the time.

Anyway, we were cheering this guy back in 2015, but rooting for him to get the max for shooting the school bus driver last year. (Assaults on bus drivers are an especially sore subject around here.) All the while, I had no idea until today that it was the same guy. Go figure.

...well...next time he shoots someone...

...it will be with an illegally possessed gun...

Just shows that one shouldn't automatically draw conclusions from the situation to the people involved.

Good people can perpetrate really bad shootings if circumstances conspire.

Equally, jerks with guns (or even criminals) can conceivably find themselves in a legitimate self-defense shooting.

Shooting into a school bus with kids in it without any legitimate threat makes this guy a criminal jerk.
